Today at dinner here on the farm at my grandmother's house grandma was talking about her favorite books as a kid. She went to a rural school and remembers her teacher reading to them every year, The Little Knight of the X Bar B Ranch She said it was her favorite as well as others as it was a tattered old book! :) She said she wished she had a copy. As soon as I got to a computer I started searching high and low for this book with no luck at all. It was printed in 1910 and there don't seem to be any copies out there for sale anywhere! I just wanted to ask around on here to see if anyone has heard of this book. I am willing to pay good money for it to bring back this memory for my grandma. It actually sounds like a great story... she said it was of an orphan boy being raised by the cowhands on a ranch! :) I teach in a 2 room country school on the prairie... I bet my students (as well as myself ;) ) would love it! Any adivce, leads, etc....????

Thank you! :)

You brought back memories and I was googling, cuz what I remembered was as a series of books. This is a link that I found. I think my g.mother had the books, and I will ask my dad..I just have the bits and pieces of the memory. If she did, the books are boxed up at the barn...but, my dad would never part with them. Try these links and see if it gets you a little further.

Good luck in your search,

Easty-

Thank you for looking into this for me. Unfortunatly, this book wasn't part of that series you are remembering. It was written by Mary K Maule. Thank you again very much for trying. :) I appreciate it.

MT Girl:

When I "Googled" The Little Knight of the X Bar B Ranch, this link came up. Kinda an odd website, but it does reference the book, and memories from it. There seems to only be one link on the page, that for emailing the keeper of the website.

I also Googled the authors name and came up with other writings, but not the one you mentioned.

I don't know if this is of any help or not, but hope it is.

Cheers---

Thanks, TTB- I sent an email to that person! :) appreciate your help.

Good tip, Easty! :)

I called the public library in Great Falls and had the gal look it up on her system... she said it is only in 11 libraries in the world!!!!!!!!! .. and there is a copy of it at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY! Wow!! I think I will also contact the publisher and see what they have to say.
