This was last night. We hauled to the Cowboy Church Arena for some practice. She's got an open Barrel Race tonight, then her Summer Series she's been doin Saturday night. Everything worked good, later in the evenin she practiced on poles too. Long as she don't get him goin too fast on poles he does great. LOL but when she starts addin too much speed, he whaps one with the middle of his head. She just hasta slow down a bit on poles and he works real good...the speed will come later.

HaHaHa......I don't know where I went wrong with this child......she loves them holy knee'd britches.....but won't wear Wranglers. Can't find britches to fit her hardly at all. I do get onto her occasionally and make her change into some of her better jeans, depending on where we are goin, but the way I see it, there's a whole lot worse thangs she could be doin than wearin holy knee'd britches LOL

OH comeon Lilly, they just get broke in and fitting right when the holes show up. It is a conspirency I tell ya...between the washing maching and the jean companies.

Good pics!!

Well she made it to the pay window, Friday night, 77 runners and she placed 3rd in the 4D. Not a super fast time, but she did great and gets to make a trip to collect money. $92.00....should buy some new britches..LOL

Now just gettin her to spend it for that. She'll prolly save it for entry fees.

Nope not finished yet, evenin activities like barrel racin make me hafta shut it off early. Evenin's the best time to shred too, when it cools off, but I don't mind the heat, longs as I can keep movin it makes a lil bit of a breeze.
Mr Lilly was buildin fence yesterday while I was shreddin, I quite a couple times to go help him, for more water, and a trip to town for a hamburger. Got alot done, but now it's down in the bottom, and the grounds terribly unlevel, so it'll be slow goin today. Fixin to round up and head out here in a lil bit.

What's your plan ?,shred, fertilize, pray for rain then cut rake & bale ? I wish I had a source for some of that chicken @%%$D that you spread nitrogen is high and going to get higher............good luck

We won't put any chicken litter on till prolly november. Right now just tryin to get rid of the weeds that the rains kicked into high gear. It's really dried out tho but if I can whoop them down, they won't be suckin up what moisture there is, maybe the grass will do a lil better ???? hopefully. Hopin for some rain sometime soon, 30% chance for next weekend...so they say now. See what they say when that time gets closer.

There's about 50 acres that need shreddin real bad, Mr Lilly's dad cleared it last year, so the vines and weeds are attackin that part really bad. but there is grass under the weeds. We've been slowly but surely openin up more pasture by clearin brushy areas for the last several years.

Weeds.....in the pasture. Bushhoggin as some call it, here we just all call it shreadin. 15 ft batwing shreader/mower. LOL

We have bottom land, good for growin grass, but when the water gets out of the creek banks it also washes ever kinda weed seed there is in this area so we really hafta stay on top of it to keep them down. Drought doesn't help weed situations either, makes em worse because the cows eat the grass down further than normal years.

We have to do it here to Lily. H ave a woods 15 foot Batwing that we drag behind a tractor.. Shred thistles and such early in the year and now we are hitting the wild hemp, the horse weed and the pig and rag weeds. Pain in the butt but we need to do it. When it is dry it does get worse, the grass gets outcompeted by the warm season annuals/ biannuals... Getting read to hook it up and do 26 or so acres tomoorw and than another 80 next week (We chase the cows with it, let them go through an area and when they are done bring in the mowers.

Lilly-----the ear to ear smile on that girl's face simply speaks volumes....she is OBVIOUSLY being raised in a loving family that has it's feet firmly planted in family!!!!! The smile says it all!! Many congratulations to her!!! :D :D :D

Along with that big smile, I love her long, pretty arms.

Reminds me of a friend of ours that lives north of Missoula. She's a great horsewoman and was at our place riding a colt once. She was demonstrating something about the colt to me and Mr. FH. He pipes up and says to her, "it is easier for you to do that; your arms are longer than mine."

She says, "Eat your heart out."

It was sooo funny at the time...

Last night I video'd her run, she's doin a summer series every saturday night. Gathers up points and at the end, they have prizes. Buckles , $400 breast collar and headstall, I don't know what all.....but anyway, saturday nights are spoken for until the end of august. She took first in barrels last night 18.340, main thing was she had a clean run, and did everthang right. Only thing that happened that wasn't sposta, the ground was real deep at the second barrel and her horse stumbled....(if there was video sound, you'da heard me go..... :o  ahhh....)
FH the lady that's helpin her, has been tryin to get her to the point that she doesn't hafta check him, just wants her to say whoa, and sit back to turn, last night she did it!!!! Never pulled back on the reins at all. LOL and she didnt even realize she'd done it right until I showed her the video and pointed it out.
Sorry for the crappy quality, but that's the video my digital camera takes.....better with more light, but never fails it's dark when she runs LOL

Here it tis.........

confidence...(not sure it needed help, but nice to get a check on a new horse)!

Lilly, what are you shreading? Would you explain what it is you are doing?
I had never heard of that before. Thanks.

She be cutting weeds and tough grass. You know, "Bush Hoggin' as some call it down here.

You folks don't spend time with that sort of thing up there.
