Turn 1 2 and 3

Don't those barrel races work so that you don't know what division you are in until it's over? Drives some of the barrel racers nuts...but that's the way the game is played.

They might have won the 2-D, time wise, but depending on everything else, and unbeknownest to them, they would have moved into the 1-D catagory and not win a dime.

Can be fustrating, to say the least.

The easiest way I've found to keep up with and know where a runner is sittin in the standings is to make columns on a sheet of paper, startin with 16 17 18 19 etc..... under each one I write down the times. If it's in the 16 it' goes under that column. Then usually most of the 4D's around here are 1/2 second splits...which means if the fastest time ran was, say......a 16.231 you'd go to the nearest thing to half a second off that.....a 16.731 would win the 2D....so on and so forth. 1 run can knock you totally out of the money, or 1 run can bring you into the money. It's confusin as all git out at first when ya don't understand it, but not so bad once ya git it.
So I always try to keep times written down for everyone. I just make sure I write down the names beside the one's we know that are there. That way if they ask me, I can tell em where they are sittin. Plus it passes the time. Some of these barrel races start at 6 pm and don't end until 2 am

Needless to say I'm hoplessly confused. lol. Are 1D and those time splits? Or do they go by age like they do in some other sports... I guess they wouldnt... like the rest of the other rodeo events, unless its a junior event... please explain this to me, or at least attempt to someone. lol.

Most of the time she's runnin in Open 3 or 4 D barrel races. Open means anyone of any age can compete. Very few have a youth division anymore, and when they do most of them cut off at age 13 so she's too old for those anyway. There are a few that have youth 18 and under.

ok...I'll try to explain.....a lil more clearer than mud LOL

say 1D 1st place is 16.231, then the first place in the 2D would be the closeset time without bein faster than 16.731(half second split)(say some poor girl ran a 16.730 she'd be outta luck and not win a nickel)......then on to 3D it'd be 17.231 or the nearest time to that.....it could be somethin like 17.300 if there are none that ran a time between 17.231 and 17.300.... then 4D would be 17.731 or nearest. Did that make any more sense.

It's really hard to explain without havin a paper with times on it in front of the person tryin to learn, I know it took me a while before I really understood it all. And I still get confused when figgerin out which times win what. They also have 2nd 3rd 4th places in each D.

I had to go back and edit my previous post times. cuz I screwed it up LOL maybe this makes more sense now that the half second splits is actually half a second.......
