A note about Vigortone or any of the dry minerals that has salt in it and uses it as a limiter--I've tried for going on the third winter now to get my cows to eat Vigortone or any dry mineral-- and they won't...Mainly I believe, because in the winter I move them down onto the riverbottom hay fields and the only water they get comes from well water that is high in salt content......

They go after Vigortone during the spring, some during the summer, and again heavier during the fall while on pasture--BUT the  only way I can get them to partake of mineral when drinking out of the river bottom wells is by the mineral lic tubs....Right now I'm using Mineralix #7 tubs...

Which is no big deal- now that I've recognized it-- and sure saves on salt blocks as they won't eat them either  :wink:
