I hope the forecasters are wrong. However, it's raining here now and has been most of the afternoon. The cattle/calves are wet and that makes this storm worse on everything.

Praying the storm won't be as bad as predicted.

A BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT MONDAY.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL TRANSITION TO SNOW EARLY THIS EVENING. SNOW
WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES TONIGHT BEFORE DIMINISHING BY MONDAY
AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...7 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER
ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED.

* WIND/VISIBILITY...NORTHEAST WINDS 25 TO 35 MPH GUSTING TO 50 MPH
WILL CREATE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AND SIGNIFICANT DRIFTING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY WET SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT TO
IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES...INCLUDING HIGHWAY 212 AND HIGHWAY 323.
THE COMBINATION OF WET SNOW...STRONG WINDS AND COLD
TEMPERATURES WILL BE DANGEROUS FOR YOUNG LIVESTOCK. THE
HEAVY WET SNOW AND STRONG WINDS COULD CAUSE POWER OUTAGES
ACROSS THE AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BLIZZARD WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OR
FREQUENT GUSTS OF OVER 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH CONSIDERABLE
FALLING AND OR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL

AREA ARE ADVISED TO STAY INDOORS.

Well the weather folks here sure missed it- saying that the storm would stay south of the Missouri River...
I was in Wolf Point this afternoon for a basketball tournament when the weather switched- started raining, snaining, then snowing... Temp is still around 30 with NE winds between 20-30 mph...
Talked to some folks from Scobey and they said it was going that far north too....

Might be a long night checking calves...

Quit snowing around midnite- and now its 4AM and the wind is dropping... Must be down to about 10 mph... Temp is 18...
Maybe its passed us... Left about an inch of crusted icy snow...

We got a little of everything. Started with wind (actually the wind hasnt stopped much since october), then had rain and fog. Followed by thunder and lightning close enough to singe your tailfeathers. Then some dime sized hail for 15 minutes. And ended with snow sideways which left us with about 2 inches. The moisture was greatly appreciated but the other excitement .....not so much. :D The cows are good. My efforts to build 1 new shed a year pay off in weather like yesterdays.

I have been checking with friends in different places to see what they got out of this storm.

First, what we got was a LOT of rain all yesterday afternoon, which turned to snow and WIND.
This morning we don't have a lot of snow, maybe 3", 17 degrees and WIND. It has stopped snowing. Roads closed except for emergency traffic.

Government hill going to Miles City....5 ft. drifts....cold and windy.

NW of Ekalaka............guessing about 8" of snow, now drifted, cold and windy. Stopped snowing there too.

Black Hills......not much snow, very icy, roads and schools closed as they
were expecting much more snow. Cold and windy.

Buffalo, Wy....not much snow, roads closed all directions because of rain, cold and now icy conditions.

Buffalo, SD.....still snowing. Blizzard warnings. Cold, snowy and windy.
