After a few years on dry weather it's finally wet in east Texas. Over the last couple of months we have gotten 8-10 inches of rain and finally got some of the creeks back flowing. I have lost 7-8 pecan trees from the drought and didn't even see a nut on the trees this year and am thankful I have some tree still standing. The wild hogs are back and the ranch next door to us is going to start farming corn so it looks like they will be here to stay. With them planting corn I am going to let the place sit this year without calves and do some hog hunts. One of the guys that I was selling hogs to have talked me into doing hog hunts because he has been booked up for 2014 and part of 2015 in doing hog hunts. It seems to be a growing business down here and its away I can make a little money with the land and give the pasture a chance to recover. My Mom is still with us so my time has changed a little because I keep her home with me a couple of days a week and not with a care giver. She enjoys going out on the place and watching me do a few things I can with her with me. I am also substituting at the school my kids go to also. That's being a wakeup call there. The first day I went I had to break up a fight between two seniors and now they have kept me pretty busy working up there. But most of the kids are pretty good after they finish their work I play a few learning games with them. The teachers like how I work with them so it looks like this will be a never ending job. One good thing it get me out to see people and not be stuck 30 miles from anyone. How has things been going for everyone else?
