What a differance a year makes

Last year the month of June we got just less than 0.4" of rain 13 90F or higher and 3 100F days.

This year the month of June is just shy of 7" of rain and it might make it over the 7" mark by midnight and so far 88F is the highest we have had for the year, mostly the upper 70s and lower 80s

Crops and livestock sure show the difference, soybeans over waist high and corn about 6' tall. So far I have 3 of 5 pastures that I have not turned into ( wish they were level enough to bale ) and the cattle are still in 3' tall grass - - - the first pasture has gone to seed and I'm going to bush hog what I can. Sure is easy for calves to hide when they just lay down anywhere and disappear!

I guess if we don't get covered with snow I will be able to pasture year round - - - already put up more hay than I did all last year!

Good for you George. I'm glad somebody is getting it. We started off real good compaired to last year. But we have missed the last few good rains and last week it was around the 105 mark all week with most of the days the wind blowing 20. Things dried out fast last week all the pastures are completely brown and the dryland crops that looked so good are going to be cooked if we don't get a rain pretty soon. The one nice thing is it was only in the mid 80's today and supposed to be like that all this next week. Not much chance for rain this week though. You don't have to go very far away for it to be totally different though. My wife is from Lincoln, ks and I have a lot of friends there. It's about an hour and forty five miniutes east, and one of them has had over 15 inches of rain since the first of April. They were trying to cut wheat, and the fields were just muddy as heck.

It's official

2012 was the driest and hottest ever on record for central Indiana - - - 2013 was the wetest ever on record and the temps were an average of 5 degrees below normal

I sure enjoyed this much better!
