Second cutting is just starting around here on the irrigated fields....2nd cutting doesn't look too bad....
Still several out haying CRP fields- where in some areas they are getting a lot of hay because of the July-early August rains.....I talked with a fella the other day that is putting up CRP hay all over the area... Said some of the CRP fields are yielding up to 3 1500 lb bales per acre..And was saying every CRP field that can be hayed is being done- estimating that just in the 25 miles between Peerless Mt and Opheim Mt there are 20,000 bales in the fields by the road...
Some low quality oats and wheat fields being hayed too as people try to get more hay- as with the demand and the high trucking costs to bring it in from any distance- some folks figure they could easily sell about anything locally for $100+ Ton if they have extra...
