What are pairs worth?

Usually commercial pairs with bull or steer calves sell a little higher around here. $30-50 per pair.

If they are registered it is usually reversed. Pairs with heifer calves tend to sell $100-$200 higher.

Just my experience.

Price just seems to keep going up...I sure wish I would have held the ones I got rid of last December thru the winter- but about then the haystacks didn't look big enough...
And I think a lot of folks were in the same boat- so finding pairs might be tough....
I see Miles City just sold some younger (3/4's) 1200 lb cow/calf pairs for $1390 last week...

And unless they are registered selling individually- calf sex usually doesn't even come up when selling a group of pairs around here...

Has anybody been watching the fats and feeder prices? :) Heres a few numbers I picked up glancing over the internet:

1338# fat cattle bring the top price of $102/cwt this week.

BLK STRS 1562 lbs $105.85 (ALL NATURALS)

552-598 pound feeder steers were bringing 125.40 to 134 yesterday at Joplin.
 
Nice 3 to 6's with mostly AI sired calves from Feb-Mar were $1525-$1575 in Crawford,Ne April 9. Black and sold open. Not a big bunch, but will raise big calves; 7-weight steers in early October, Their last years heifers, from the keeping sort weighed about #820 and sold for $875-900 by the head.
 
I apologize that I did'nt answer the origional question, but that's what sombody must of thought they were worth.
 
Lot of pairs in this area bringing around that $1400 mark. But I definatley don't blame them I myself would rather be buying that pair as opposed to a $800 steer to put on grass for the summer.
 
Report from Ogallala, Nebraska last week.

1st Calf Heifer Pairs: $1325.00 to $1650.00
3 to 6 yr old Pairs: $1300.00 to $1650.00
Solid Mouth Pairs: $1275.00 to $1325.00
Short & Spread Pairs: $1100.00 to $1250.00
Broken Mouth Pairs: $950.00 to $1125.00
 
Funny how a person gets mixed emotions with the cow market.
Hoping for high prices when our yearlings go in 3 weeks and wanting to get another 2 or 3 loads of young pairs landed here for around $1200 just doesn't seem to go hand in hand.

My BIL bought some 4-5 year olds with calves in Kamloops on Tuesday for 987.50. Red baldy cows with good black calves.
