Where did Spring go- what happened to our bare ground?
Last night we got hit with a mini-blizzard-- 15-20 ENE winds, 3 inches of snow, and temps dropping to 15... For awhile it was not a fit night for man or beast- especially new baby beasts...

Calves came thru fine.. They curled up in any hole or behind any windbreak they could find- but this morning were looking for a dry place to take a nap..
They will enjoy the 50 degree temps predicted for tomorrow..

After I rolled some straw out- a few headed for a padded bed...

This is the last one born last night. Momma buried it in some straw for the night behind a windbreak- and this morning it found some dry hay to burrow into... Them little angus are tough... I watched this one being born- and before she was even on her feet she was reaching for a milk faucet...

Looking good. We have'nt been warm enough to melt much snow I was going to move cows to a different field the other day but as I drove across the field the snow kept getting deeper until I was stuck I aborted that mission and went back to where I've been feeding. I held off on the bulls last year and am glad of it no calves due here for 3 weeks yet. Which is good because I've got trailer orders backing up.

About an hour after I took these pictures the snow stopped- the wind died down and the sun came out... By noon it was up to 34 degrees and this afternoon close to everything is brown again...
Weather folks are predicting 50's for tomorrow- bring it on... My arthritis may appreciate it more than the calves do!

I don't know about north of us, but there is a CHANCE we could have 6" of snow on Monday. Depends on how that storm tracks....
