The crackdown at Tyson some years ago had no affect. I listened to the guy who turned in the IFCO (sp?) illegal aliens today on G. Gorden Liddy Show that led to the federal crackdown that is all over the news. I think 7 execs. of the company were at that roundup. If it is anything like the Tyson deal, there will be no penalty although they are talking about 10 yrs possibly.
Industry wants illegals and if they don't get them, they will export the industry infrastructure to other countries where labor is cheaper and get cheap labor that way and import the goods. That is why the trade agreements are so important. NOTHING can be more important to a nation than their food supply from a strategic stance.
"What immigration really does is redistribute wealth away from workers toward employers," said George J. Borjas, an economist at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Heard on the radio that if vegetable pickers were to receive a 40% raise in their hourly salary, that lettuce price in the store would go up 2 cents.
Shows you how little that labor is a part of the food chain. So why do we need illegals to do the work. Pay more and americans will do the job. But greed by these companies is fueled by their hate for employees and unions.
