A new way to wild horse race when your horse has no withers:

That was a dandy! Rodeo @ Princess (Patricia?), the arena is on edge of half mile track==a guy gets mounted and they open the gate, you gotta make a lap to win it.
Same deal: big long lead rope and nobody gave it to the rider---they opened the gate, away they went and the impending wreck was horrifying to anticipate. The horse was headed for the rail, the rider was hoping nothing would happen for a couple more jumps and was leaning to grab the rail---too late---pony stepped on lead rope, rider knocked cold, horse had to be put down.
For kids, they got wild colt races---bareback, stay in the arena, your buddys hold onto rope---all you gotta do is ride, chase, or drag colt-- with rider still on---between two judges.
This was pretty cute---little girl could ride, her partners got her maneuverd between the judges, 'that's a done deal'----they dropped the rope and ambled away, the colt crowhopped a full lap around the arena, never saw any daylite under the kid, the colt stops and kid slides off and moseys away, kinda an 'nothin to that' look on her mug.
