Wild summer Weather

WE had some wicked summer weather move through here this afternoon. There were quite a few funnel clouds spotted and two twisters did touch the ground. WE ended up with another 2 inches of rain in a matter of a few minutes.

That system went north of us this morning- Big Muddy might have got moisture out of it- I heard near Wood Mountain got over an inch...Whole day felt weird- air was heavy and hazy with a layer of clouds hanging over the top...

We had the same thing come in around 2:30 this afternoon,had lightning strike around a mile from us,not any bad damage that I've heard,funnel cloads were seen in our area! It got a little scary for a while....absolutly beautiful night tonight!

The smoke from the fires away from here sure made for a beautiful red sunset this evening. It made raking hay not seem so bad for a few minutes. :wink:

M_R, The wife and kids were shopping in Brandon when it hit there. #1 son had water up to his knees(he's 6' tall) in the parking lot at the Corral Center.
All we got down here in the desert was a light drizzle.Less than 1/10th.
We could have used the rain but I'm not too tore up about it........I've got a LOT of hay knocked down that is taking forever to cure in this humidity. Might end up having to wrap it all.

We have been getting an average of about 3 inches a week - - - crops look great but it sure was a pain getting hay up with out washing it.

We got into Brandon just at the end of the rain and there was water going everywhere those city folks looked like scared ducks...lol... could pick out the country folk they were wadeing through the water.
We are having a hard time getting the alfalfa to cure too. Darn humidity. Hows the grass holding out down in your area heard its getting pretty short in other areas that are dry?

I heard man hole covers were popping off in Brandon water everywhere.

Tim, you really have to wonder about that Corral Center... why did they insist on building on a flood plain??? When that big rain storm hit Brandon last summer, my son drove by it and saw whitecaps on the parking lot!

My son also called from his car yesterday when he was on the way to Winnipeg. He spotted that funnel cloud about 5 miles north of Chater, but was he ever upset when he found there were no batteries in his camera! :?

We must have gotten close to 3 inches in that storm, but I'm not really sure yet. We forgot to bring the rain guage in last fall, and it broke when the water that was in it froze. :shock: I'll have to check with the neighbours. All I can go by is that the dog's dishes were filled with water right to the top. :lol:

We had hay down too, but it wasn't ready to bale yet, so nothing could be done about that, but on the bright side, as long as we don't get hail, the corn should grow about two feet this week.
