Well, at least you can still go to the bull sale tomorrow.

Earl Monahan, in his autobiography, mentioned that one time he rode into one of his ranch camps where two cowboys were spending the winter feeding hay to quite a bunch of yearlings. Their feed outfit was four head of horses and a haysled. On the particular day that Earl rode in, he mentioned to the men that they sure had fed a surplus of hay for the amount of cattle that were in their charge. They replied that it was sure the case, but they reasoned that they planned to attend the big Saturday night dance that very night and the might not feel too good on Sunday morning. They figured the cattle would survive with the extra hay that was fed. Earl laughed and told them it was a good idea, but it was now Sunday, and the big dance had been the night before. :? :-)

Great pics everyone! :D
I love the turtle pic, its National Geographic worthy :)
This was a very hard contest to decide, everyone did such a wonderful job.

Much agreed Jigger Boss.

Great pictures everyone!

I really was taken with Jassy's turtle picture and thought it looked like a National Geo. entry too.

By the way, I also liked your Bighorn Sheep picture. How did you get so close!

Cal, your boy (I assume that's who is in the picture) is pretty deadly with his bow! Great shot.

The picture in my entry, of the Marbled Godwit, was the first picture I ever posted on Ranchers.net. I posted it, to ask what kind of bird it was. Clarence and others, provided that information. It's amazing the amount of knowledge and talent we have on this board.

Good job everyone!

Cheers---

Ever been to Banff or Jasper? You can just about pet the Big Horn Sheep there. They're quite often on the road licking the salt off the road. They aren't much scared of anything.

Yes Banff or Jasper national parks the wildlife is protected so there all over the place, the Elk a person has to be careful during rut, they'll attack, but they have the right of way in the parks, doesn't matter if your right in the towns. These were taken at Banff

Jigger Boss and Mrs. Greg:

Yes, lazy ace and I have been to Banff. We spent part of our honeymoon there, and really enjoyed it. It was in August of 2003, and the whole inter-mountain west of North America was on fire. We couldn't go into Jasper as it was closed because of the fires, and didn't see any Bighorns in Banff.

It was truly a trip we would like to take again. We looked at cattle in ND and MT, then in Alberta at two outfits, and stayed a night with a family I stayed with on a 4-H exchange trip in 1988 in Pincher Creek.

And, in Canmore, there is/was the best brew pub, the Grizzly Paw. They had great food and beer. We stayed outside of town, so we couldn't have nearly as much fun there as we would have liked

One day, we'll make the trip back. Hopefully sooner rather than later. You all live in a beautiful area, no doubt.

We have Bighorns in Colorado where I was raised, but you don't get anywhere near that close to them. The closest I've ever been was on the Million Dollar Highway between Silverton and Ouray Colorado, Christmas Day 2002. We were headed from my folks to my Aunt and Uncle's, and there was one laying on the crag over the highway. Too bad the highway is so narrow, as it would have been neat to turn around and get a picture. If I remember correctly, the had a full curl.

Sorry sooooo long. I guess I got to reminiscing!

Cheers---

TTB

PS keep the pics coming!

Had me fooled. I thought he looked like a young version of Northern ranchers son. Bet they would get along real good. Take their bows and dissappear for the day.
