This has been the coldest February in 11 years here. we are averaging 10*c below average and today we had 50km winds with drifting snow. I am on the tail end of calving, just started the second cycle and have 8 left. the last 6 look to be 3rd cycle cows so I will have a break for the first part of march. Have not even had to dig out the chains yet and touch wood have not had to treat a calf. mothers all cooperating nicely and it appears a heavy culling program and paying attention on the sire end is working here. I am starting preparations for my bull sale in late march so its nice to be near done.
Very generous 9yrold cow, its amazing how much stealing goes on.
My second post calving group. most of these are 2weeks old now. The front one came out at 55lbs but is really starting to make up ground. I really like this setup as I can check these often and it has a lot of windbreaks for any wind I might get
A really nice 84lb Final Answer bull calf from a 9yrold Sitz Alliance cow. I will wager 100$ he will make the bull sale pen next year
