Did a couple of "cow" related things yesterday, and I got a few pics to share here. Al's 4-H heifer (the one that got snake bit back in the spring) started swelling at the bite site again, so took her down to the squeeze chute, and worked on her a little bit......she was feeling well enough she ate supper last night, which is a first for a few days.

Decided Al would hold her leadrope, since there wasn't a nose bar on the chute, Hubby would play vet, I would be "gopher" and official photographer. Hubby making the first cut.

Didn't get it through the first time, so had to try again

A little squeeze, and you can't imagine the "stuff" that came out, guess we didn't get all the venom out the first time......yucky smelling junk!

Cleaned it out with some Iodine, it's draining well, and they put some fly repellant on it, since the flies have gotten so horrific again. She also got 12 cc of penicillin, wasn't too thrilled with that, though. She was sure glad to get out of the chute and back to the trailer for the ride home, but Al never had a bit of trouble with her trying to get away, or not want to go. I even took the curry comb to her last night, and she just stood there while I brushed her for about half an hour, no halter, nothing.

Then, when we got back from doing that, we grabbed a water trough from the horse pasture across the road, and took it to the lower end, where they put Tillie, the milk cow Sweet Pea, and the Holstein steer Lumpy, this afternoon. Here's a few from that adventure:

Al unloaded the trough from the pickup, and Hubby went to get the hose to wash it out.

"How's that?"

"Looks good on this side....."

Miss Tillie waits patiently for a drink of water.

Got it filled, and the bovines had a good drink, then wandered off to graze. The grass sure has come on good down there since it started raining, they'll be happy campers for the winter, I'm thinking.

After the fair's over, Miss Bandita will join them. Not sure about Junior yet, still don't know what the owner wants to do about him......
