Hay is all in the stack yards. Irrigation water is running all over the place. The thermometer looks to be just under 110. It is out on the deck and I am not walking out there to get an exact reading. The wife is doing laundry and hanging cloths outside. She said it is working a lot faster then putting them in the dryer. With the humidity sitting at 11% I think they are dry before she gets them hung up. But I am done with my irrigation for the day and don't plan to go outside until after 7:30 when the sun goes behind the hills.
 
The boys are having a hot time near Huntington today. There was a small fire near Huntington yesterday. It was called contained at 2:00pm at about 150 acres. It must have flared up on them. Now 4,500 acres and zero contained. Looks like Huntington down the Burnt River to the Snake River. Then up stream on the Snake to Farewell Bend and back up the road to Huntington. I think the wind is blowing toward the Snake which is a pretty good fire break. If they can hold the road and that canyon the Burnt River is in they will have it whipped.
When I went to town earlier I noticed that the fire cat, the tanker truck, and the small pump truck were all gone. An assortment of pickups parked where the fire equipment parks. It is about 104 degrees with the humidity at about 11%. Hopefully the wind is pushing it toward the Snake River.
 
At 9:00 last night they were still down there. There is another big one in Cow Valley which is about 30 miles south of here. That one has no natural barriers and was running hard toward Brogan at last report. People in Brogan were advised to be ready to go. This morning the Cow Valley fire is reported at 20,000 acres and zero contained.

Yeah, friends of yours have cattle there and private land. Scary for sure. Praying for them now.
 
Cow Valley fire is now at 83,000+ acres. They are saying that you can see it from Vale. They managed to save Brogan. The fire is now south of highway 26. Supposed to be dry lightning and winds up to 50 mph later today. Sure is smokey here.

It didn't cool down here last night. Was 80 when I went to bed and 75 when I got up. We are at the foothills of the Big Horn mountains and it's unusual for it not to cool off at night.

We are having our house painted and the date to do it is tomorrow and Wednesday. I hope the paint doesn't dry in the cans. There is no end in sight from this heat. And no rain either. There was a downpour Friday night of the Sheridan WY rodeo, we got a drop or two.

If you go to that satellite view that Peach posted. Upper right is Durkee. There is green where it is irrigated. Follow it out to the left where it is a point. That is me. And Yes Peach there is some pretty rough ground around here.

It is up over 132,000 acres and zero percent contained as of this morning. It is headed southeast. The town of Vale has several miles of irrigated farm land on the fire side of town. I imagine they are pouring the water on out there. If it goes around the west end of the irrigated ground which it kind of looks like from the maps and jumps highway 20 it will be Katy bar the door. Because it is then headed toward some of the most rugged desolate country in the USA. Fighting fire in the Owahee would be next to impossible.
