Today was the branding and haul the cows off to summer camp. I have 60 cows and 58 calves which is by far the smallest branding in the neighborhood. Well the crew arrive about 8:30 this morning. A pair of B's must have crawled through the fence so we branded 59. We gathered, sorted and branded and were done before noon. Crew of 7 that reduced when one guy had to leave. Ate a big lunch that the wife made. Last year she planned for 10 and 20 showed up. So this year she made lots and there was 6 of us for lunch. Then we hauled the cows to the Alder Creek trap which is above Kitchen Creek (Older Whiskey will know where that is). Two trips each for 4 trailers. B's hired man and some associates went back there an hour or two later after they had plenty of time to mother up. They drove them up to the Kinzoo (sp) which is a private mountain pasture.
The wife took some pictures while she was watching two young boys. Their parents were roping for us. I am certain she had the busiest job. Those two (3 and half and 20 months) are real life wires. The parents kept asking how the wife is fairing and have the two of them tore the house down yet.

Not enough food is always my biggest fear1
Last year she had to scramble but everyone got all they wanted to eat. B's son who wasn't even there invited some people without telling his dad or me that they would show up.
One year we got done branding, loaded them up and hauled them off. Haven't hear the end of that one. The wife says if they brand here she is going to feed 'em.
