You must have got that in awful late- silage corn???
ours was over our heads and near tosseling on the 4th. Looks like an incredible crop this year for corn, kidney beans, and soybeans. The wheat around here all got some rare root rot this year but will still be decent.
Has been years since...
A purebred breader I know decided to breed all his heifers to War Party last year, after using him on cows for a year. I haven't talked to him since he started calving to see how it worked out.
We used 2x15 for 3 years and the calves come easy and get up and nurse well on their own. They are a little light on muscle as steers. We only have 2 females in the herd but they are good cows with nice udders.
The whiteface cattle are 3-way crosses- 1/2 simmy, 1/4 angus, 1/4 hereford in the case of the steers. The heifer is 1/4 angus with the balance being mostly simmental.
Most of our calves are half angus or more.
We are getting to the point where most of our cows are 50-50 sim-angus and are...
We are needing rain as well. Only got a bit less than 2/10ths here as well last night. Thats all it takes to totally slop up the lots. Got .8 inches here about a week ago that helped alot.
Got all our wheat and oats in the ground now. Finished up today. Got rain in the forecast- but you know...
Forgot to add that our steers are fed out from weaning on- on a 90% forage- 10% high-moisture corn ration with a small amount of soybean/distillers mix and free-choice salt. The haylage pile is now gone so it is hay alone from here on out for forage. Didn't make any corn silage last year- they...
The first 2 animals are 13 month old steers on our feedlot. The white-face calf is a full brother to the first steer. The first black heifer calf is 3/4 angus the other one is 50-50 sim-angus. They look like twins side-by-side. The white-face bred heifer is about 20 months old in the pic. The...
Didn't have time to read through all the posts but we have had a 6200L loader and it was great- traded it at 7500hrs with no real problems other than a tie rod busted one time and right at the end it had a leaky water pump. now have a 6120L and it is pretty much the same machine. My uncle has a...
we had a 6200 loader tractor and now have a 6120 and both have been excellent tractors. traded the 6200 with over 7000 hrs. on it and no major problems of any kind. love the power quad transmission
I didn't have time to read all of the posts on here and i know u said u wanted to stick with english breeds but just wanted to say that we have had great luck breeding to the new generation of moderate framed simmentals. and i know from eating them that the end product is very good. there are...
Here is a pic of my new small varmit gun. This rifle is awsome. the smoothest action of any gun i own- and right out of the box!!!
Spits out 13 rds very fast and very accurrate. the small lever version would be a tad faster but i always wanted a big loop gun.
