    More Republican family values

I saw an earlier post where some of you were asking other members not to be so mean and rude to others on the site. Well, why in the world are you so mean and one sided to this person Disagreeable? Is this just a posting site of people of a like mind who do not want to hear anything other...

    Help for foot rot?

Border Rancher: If you can get your cow up use plain old peroxide to " boil" out that are between her toes. It might help. I've had 2 cows in the past with horrible, HORRIBLE feet problems and we eventually had to do away with the cow BUT by doses of LA-200 and keeping her up close in...

    30 lb. calf

We had an itty bitty once also. We took what had been an old goat milking stand and re-worked it so that the little fellow could be high enough to nurse his mamma. Momma was a show cow and would stand tied while all this went on....worked like a charm and the calf did great!

    Age of cow a guess

Not really related .....but on the topic of age of cows..... we have a cow that by all guess-timation between us and the Angus Assoc is the oldest reg Angus cow alive today. She's a 1978 model!! She's just an old pet cow, half blind, hardly any teeth so we have to 'slop' the cow in the...

    MICE, MICE EVERYWHERE!!!

WalMart sells those plastic traps under the name of TomKatt....and they work great and you don't end up smashing yer fingers like with the old ones. They will even catch what we call " wharf rats"----mongo rats! I've got the barn full of them and between the traps and the Blue Heeler dogs...

When a Heeler becomes a Header!

Well....my Heeler is a true Header! She came to me that way. Since she was a "throw away" I have no idea of her background...but SOMEONE trained her to head cattle. She does get a bit over anxious sometimes but we're working on that slowly. She came to me cause people know I have/keep...

    Help! with shooting at night!

The same kinda gal that uses a red nite scope to take out ' yotes, un-ruly skunks, ground hogs, etc. The red scope works great. It usually comes with the Shooters Kit with the critter calls. They are easy to find. Worth the $$$$

I wonder if insurance covers this?

I had a bull climb a tree once! Had a Angus bull (2000lbs+) that loved to scratch his belly and such on saplings @ the end of the pasture. Once he tackled a tree with a bit more spring in it than he expected. I ck cows each AM & PM and good thing cause there he stood with his hind...

When a Heeler becomes a Header!

I may just have to make her my ground-hog dog as she got 2 yesterday without mercy! She barks out on every snake she finds also. Maybe her career is with other critters!!

When a Heeler becomes a Header!

I've got way more cattle dogs than I should have. I take them in after people buy them as 'cute' pups then realize these dogs get bored easy and need a job. Anyhoo..I've got a 2 yr old Aussie cattle dog, a throw away I rescued of course and I've no clue of her history before she came to...

    Wolf/Coyote Hybrid

Also, Doc ..please don't think I was offended by an " eastern slam" as I wasn't. I've worked A LOT in NE, WY, MT and Dakotas with /in the cattle business and had to deal with a lot of the tree huggers myself in that part of the country. I've develped a pretty thick hide as being a woman...

    Wolf/Coyote Hybrid

BINGO!!! The beavers were even coming up several hundred yards into my parents yard and cutting down Mom's fancy yard trees!! Seems that here the State Wildlilfe folks, who by the by all live in Metro Atlanta!!, thought the beavers would create ponds, thus creating a whole eco-enviroment...

    Wolf/Coyote Hybrid

I think both, the wonderful " state" and fox hunters are to blame! To us it seems that the mix animal is worse than the pure coyote. The true coyotes do seem to stay bit wary of you but these mixes are brave! Up here on the headwaters of the Chatt river, the " state" brought in...
