    Golan/ Israel Ranching

No bomb-proof horses..sorry. I used to enjoy riding this mare but she's due to foal anyday now. (I know that knee looks funny but its just the picture!) I know one guy who had his horse blown out from under him; I know of another who wasn't as lucky. I've shot M16 and AK47 from some horses here...

We seem to have very similar problems but also different ones for each region.

I've had heelers for years, main problem with them is that they push everything away from you and aren't the best dog for turning cows. So when I got my latest 2 I trained 'em to bring 'em back too. About a year ago I left Canada with the wife and two dogs and came to Israel...Dogs travelled...

    Golan/ Israel Ranching

Like to give a little overview of how things get done here, and where here is. Some things would be better in their own threads. Also bear in mind that I'm just describing ranching here; I worked on some very professional beef outfits in North America and in England, there's improvements to be...

Thanks for replies. Got really busy this week, had a break in the weather and had alot of riding to do. We get heavy mists here at times. The wolves here do get a little bigger, and the picture isn't great, I only seem to get shots in on the genetically or physically poor specimens...see the...

Well, just practising this photo malarkey. We have wolves in the Golan, technically Iranian wolves. Last spring the directly or indirectly killed at least six of our foals and arround 14 calves. I have a licence to shoot them, and the ranch gets a bounty. I'll open a thread on wolves soon, along...

Thanks for the welcome, Heres a pretty funny picture of a neighbours cow in a race with an APC. Most of our herd is European bloodstock but the local "Balady" cows are tough and always manage to bring a calf home (although a little light). I'll post more pictures when I get the hang of it...

I've been lurking on this site for a little while now and would like to contribute to some posts. I've worked cattle and horses for a while now in a few different places. Grew up around horses and sh**p in England, got a ranching job in Israel for 5 years or so, spent 7 years in BC Canada...
