Is this the end of brands?

I heard on the radio something about NAIS would replace branding. One thing I've got against NAIS is: did you ever see all of your ear tags stay in the ears?

    Hi Capacity Wheel Rake

I've had enough success with Sitrex to say they're worth the money. There used to be a ton of Vicon wheel rakes in the country, and then Vicon quit selling them. May have to get a Tonutti or a Rowse to replace one someday. A Rowse would be better than a Tonutti, I think.

    Hi Capacity Wheel Rake

I saw a brochure for one of those in the sales barn. I agree with Big Muddy rancher.

    Hi Capacity Wheel Rake

Rowse is supposed to be premium quality. Don't see any dealers in Montana, though. http://www.rowserakes.com/

This forum did seem kind of sluggish lately. Guess it's fine today.

Update on Dually, the abused barrell horse in 2009

I just saw about Dually on TV.

    Bull trouble

I have a bull with his penis drooping straight down and about half extended. Seems to be interested in cows though. Was worried about him but my dad says that's common.

    Fly control

I once bought some fly tags from a rancher with a business and he said "I spend a lot of money on fly control. I put in fly tags and I put on pour-on and I feed fly mineral." He didn't say it, but you know what he could have said next? "And I still have flies."

The Purposeful Flooding of America's Heartland

When it comes to purposeful flooding, I am afraid we ain't seen nothin' yet.

    self darkening welding helmets

Have a cheap auto-darkening. Don't weld much. Never used it much or gotten used to it. When I weld, I usually use my Cherokee jaw-operated, as I am used to it. Reckon auto-darkening can be great if you get used to them. Reckon expensive ones ought to be better than cheap ones.

    Shorthorn price

I'm afraid Shorthorns typically go for $5/cwt less than black Angus, just guessing.

    Saler Cattle

A lot of Salers have a lumpy-looking backline. And, wow, the horns they can get on them. Yeah, they could do well in Montana.

    Agriculture Universities and/or Colleges?

At least you've got enough sense to work a few years first. Knowledge does you no good if you don't have the capital and the hustle.

    Border Collie - Sheltie MIx

I'm not saying you let the Sheltie chase the cattle all the time. I'm saying you have to have the Sheltie WANT to chase cattle or else it won't be much of a cattledog.

    Agriculture Universities and/or Colleges?

Basically anything you learn in ag school can be found on the Internet unless you want hands-on experience or go into depth in a certain field. Talk about ag a little over beers. That's all the ag schooling a farmer/rancher needs.

    Border Collie - Sheltie MIx

A Sheltie has to have guts to stand up against cattle. I think it's got to like to chase them to have enough guts.

    Beef Magazine

Seems silly to pay money to see Carrie Underwood and then walk out on her. Young people these days... I think she's been on TV too.

    Saler Cattle

Angus cattle are hard to beat. The hardy Angus black cattle features outstanding economic characteristics:A coat of hair that is thick and can remain long or sleek depending on the climate; Tough, hard black hooves less prone to injury and a rumen capable of breaking down relatively course...

    Border Collie - Sheltie MIx

I think a Sheltie can be a stockdog if it is raised around stock and encouraged to chase stock.

    Beef Magazine

I think I have seen her mentioned on the Internet once or twice.
