Hi Capacity Wheel Rake

Lookin at getting a different rake. I am looking at a Hi capacity wheel rake and was wondering what everyone runs and what they think is one of the better ones. I have been lookin at a Vermeer or a KUhn. Thanks.

We have a Heston and like it. The only problem we have with it is that it doesn't do corners or turns well. It'll make some rippin big windows!

Think the rake your looking at is by far the best wheel rake built.
Seen em in Wa on timothy farms do 3 cuttings on irragation.run em
for 2 to 3 month a year.very well made do a great job. Gentle on crop
leave big fluffy swath.

The rake that was loaned to us is a Vermeer V-rake,

buy one for $18,000 from our local Vermeer dealer.

If I remember correctly a 14 wheel was just north of $20,000.

The used one I was looking at I chased to $14,000 but it was used kinda rough. :?

I am not sure I own a tractor big enough to pull those rakes. They are impressive.

I think you can hook them to a gooseneck hitch in your truck.

Not sure how many hydraulics needed but it did have it's own splitter with switches and solenoids.

Broute, I owned a Vermeer Rebel wheel rake. I traded it for a Kuhn Speedrake. There's no comparison -the Kuhn is far better especially if you have any hilly hay ground. Love the Kuhn.

Nah---I'd of already tore up half the whirld with that lashup before it ever got a chance~~and if it's dry enuf to bale, it might be a tad dryer than I like to rake it---unless i drove REALLY slow, which might mitigate item 1.....

I saw a brochure for one of those in the sales barn.

I've had enough success with Sitrex to say they're worth the money.

There used to be a ton of Vicon wheel rakes in the country, and then Vicon quit selling them. May have to get a Tonutti or a Rowse to replace one someday. A Rowse would be better than a Tonutti, I think.

We like our H & S Hi-Capacity 16 wheel rake. It has been used for several seasons with minimal problems to repair. It does go through quite a few teeth each summer, but they are not terribly expensive or hard to replace.

I looked at an H & S Hi-Capacity the other day when I was on a parts run. It had somethings I liked better than the Sitrex Magnum I've looked at. Most any of them are better than the Tonutti that I have but its not a hi-capacity either.
