    Polled Hereford bull calves

MN- We bought the bull for many reason. Reason number 1 we needed a bull to run with our heifers. We wanted a bull with good calving ease with high growth potential. Reason 2- We wanted a bull with a strong pedigree backed with PROVEN cow producers and profit producers. After all a bull is...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

It probably does sound like I am getting mad but I assure you that I am not. I appreciate the advice and the criticism. I was simply trying to point out what I like as well. I was however getting annoyed for someone thinking that I don't know the difference between a rupture and a hernia and...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

We have been breeding and raising Polled Herefords for over 50 years so I don't think that we are chasing a fad as you claim. Like I've said in previous posts, that may have been the case 10 years ago about Polled Herefords but they have changed drastically. I had many horned hereford breeders...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

How can jumping a fence and rupturing your scrotum have anything to do with a hernia? Also how does that have anything to do with genetics? Remitall dispersed probably for the same reason DeShazers did, Detweiler did and others. Its a marketing tool. They have eggs, semen, embryos, land...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

What do horned herefords have that you like and also dislike? Also what do polled herefords have that you like and also dislike? Also he ruptured his scrotum. It happened when he was fighting another bull when we had just moved them and he jumped one of our divider fences and ruptured it. It...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

We don't show calves on a national scale or even a state scale. We have people from around the area that purchase calves or rent calves to show at county fairs and one person has showed a heifer at the state fair this past year. We strive to produce a functional set of calves that will both...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

Nortex I was referring to how I have never seen in person a hereford with a front end like that. PureCountry like I said before that picture was taken awhile ago and he looks much different without being groomed. A picture doesn't give a very good depiction of the animal.

Thanks for the comments and I respect your opinions. I'm not discrediting them I was also just giving mine. We will use him on 13 heifers this year and see what he does. From the two times we have seen him(once he was tied up the other he was in a pasture) he was very docile and easy to work...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

Hey man what is your problem. I'm sorry that I don't want to raise terrible calves and not make any money off of it. The reality is you make more money with quality animals. That is exactly what he is and Remitall Online has been one of the most influential sires in the breed both carcass and...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

Phenotype wasn't the ultimate decision in picking this bull calf. We looked at him a month earlier when he wasn't groomed and he was our choice then as well. We first look at their pedigree. He was sired by the two time national champion Remitall Online 122L and is backed by the great Airwave...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

I like them both and as of right now I would choose the Able Acres bull. That picture of him was taken awhile ago and since then he has just really thickened out. However the second bull is really close behind him. I can't wait to get them to stand together that way I can make an accurate choice.

    Polled Hereford bull calves

I was referring to when you told me to go to a show poodle board. Here is a cut and paste from the catalog. • High quality proven ancestors on both sides of this pedigree. A full sister won at both the 2008 Denver National and the 2008 Junior National. A full brother is one of our featured...

I do like pigment as well and we have many cows with full pigmentation however that is not the ultimate decision whether we retain a calf or not.

    Polled Hereford bull calves

We have 65 head of registered Polled Hereford cattle. We retain about 12 replacement heifers each year, 7 steers for feeding out, and about 2 bulls every year for sale or maybe retain. This year we needed 4 more bulls and we have three right now. We sell the rest of the steers to a feedlot...

    Polled Hereford bull calves

Here is a bull we just purchased this past weekend at Able Acres annual sale in Wingate, IN. He is a Feb bull calf out of Remitall Online 122L. This picture was taken awhile ago from them. When you get behind him is where you truly appreciate this calf. He is thick butted, wide topped...

What do you think of the calves?

We have sold off the feeder steers and 4-H calves. So we are left with 2 bull calves, 14 heifer calves, and 6 steer calves. I plan on getting them all washed up and clipped and shoot some pics of them in a couple of weeks.

What do you think of the calves?

Hey thanks for the comments. These pictures were taken on Labor Day this year. They were weaned about a month ago. They have started to really put some weight and thickness on and are looking very nice.
