    Grass farming

Successful and sustainable programs, and ideas (like HMI or R for P) are continually evolving as new ideas are found (that work). The opposite of evolving is extinction. The same goes for a farm or ranch.

    Troubles with trailer lights

Try replacing the FLASHER Plug in the truck. Sounds like a similar thing that was happening with my truck/trailer. Don't by the cheap ones, try the plugs meant for 10+ lights. it only cost me about $10 at the local TruValue. Good Luck............

    Electric fencers

You're welcome Chuckie.......... I have a 6V Parmak solar/drycell combination that I really like. I've made it portable enough that I can move it around to different parts of the farm easily. The 110V fencer is a Stinger, that made in Winnipeg, MB. I think that its the same manufacturer...

    Electric fencers

Grounding will make or break the effectiveness of any fencer. We have found that the best place to put them is along the back wall (outside) of the cattle shed. We plug the fencer undercover, and run the ground along the back wall and then down to each of 3 ground rods. The rain that falls...

Japan: Its not the closed border, Its the BSE

Oldtimer......... as long as the USA has Senators that openly speak of trade sanctions against the Japanese, and judges that get paid off by consumer groups disquised as ranchers, why would anyone take a "BULLY" like the USA seriously? I suppose you would just have to start naming your cows...

Grassley Baucus expect "positive" announcement fro

I guess if the diplomates can't get the Japanese market back, then I guess R-Calf can always remind them about Hiroshima and Nagasaki........ I would think that the Missles are already point north in our direction.

R-CALF Runs Ad in the "Washington Post"

This isn't the grassroots cowboy/rancher talking in those ads, its the strange bed fellows that are truly bank rolling the R-Calf movement. PETA, the Consumers Federation of America, the Consumers Union, and Public Citizen. They are the ones that are putting the fear of beef in the forefront...

    Stats Canada

Anyone who believes anything that Stats Canada says is full to his eyeballs in something brown too....... I don't answer any questions truthfully, if at all to those cowboys.

    Border Poll

You betcha Alabama......... I built 3x the infrastructure, bought out the neighbors, added more hayland, and I have 30 month old steers. I know atleast a couple of thousand fellows that have done the same. We've even started our own club called Q-cows where we have to marry our father's neice...

    My Husband's Near Death Experience

Say....... 1/2 price the day after. Maybe next year I'll give my wife an IOU (in a nice card of course) telling her if she can wait a day, then she can get twice the amount of chocolates. Seriously would that work <SMILES>.? This time of year can get a little hard on the pocket book. Our...

    accidental injection of scourgaurd

Be thankful that it wasn't Micotal............ Thats deadly. I had a needle poke with Ivomec about 15 years ago and the "lump" is still there today. Other than a clean bandage and antibiotics when it swelled up, I wasn't good bad off. I wonder how things will go the next time you have an...

Why I Like the NEW Format

There was and still is a lot of interesting comments (and some crap too), but under the old format, we had to click, and load each comment. For those of us in the sticks of Canada, that can easily take 5 to 10 seconds of more. Nothing was more frustrating having to go through 35 or more...

    Boycott Northern States' "State Fairs"

It never fails to amaze me how arrogant the Senators for ND (in particular Conrad) South Dakota and others can be.......... Do they not realize how many Canadians (in the past anyway) would plan a least a trip a year (or two) across the border to enjoy a weekend, or to take in a concert at the...
