How to use this 3 point lifter?

I found an old lifter obviously graduated to take heavier loads as it comes closer to the back of the tractor. It may be that a bar or piece has broken off from the bottom or that bottom curve sits on the back of the tractor some way. You will note the attachment point is reinforced and the...

    How many head per acre?

6 meters of water a year . That is roughly 3ft 3inches by 6, or 19 foot 6 inches of rain a year fairly evenly distributed over the year and I run 1 adult cow per 2 acres all year round .No more or the grass suffers and the weeds come through.

    March Diary 1968

Sure wish I could go back to that time in my life . Make the most of it , you only get one go at it I say . I missed the fact that this was in 1968 until I read the post on the blizzard of 1966 . Bloody cold over there.

    March Diary 1968

I too like this, good homely stuff. Made a couple of notes , maybe they'll help someone reading this too. "Dad tied up a couple cows and left them while we fed the hay. The heavies and yearlings were short on hay, so we fed them. We finished this job just in time, as one of the tied-up cows was...

You know it amazes me that gullible people actually believe this sort of stuff. I know there are a lot of believers over there in the states and many other believers in other beliefs elsewhere in the world . If you really are honest with yourself has there ever , at any time in your life, been...

    McDonald's wants "sustainable beef"

Proof of the pudding is in the eating .It is all nutritious however you look at it but some people don't like the thought of lungs going in or heart. They admit they do it but it would take me a week of Sundays to find that stuff again. I'd rather spend the time cutting up and grinding my own...

    Anybody familiar with Arrow 8500

They are flogging them everywhere even here in Australia . Price is $8500 and I guess the rails will rust after a time . Any oil would tend to let them slip which is not what you want. I took some photos of that mechanism when I was building mine . See if I can find them. I like the easy...

In case you want to build a new Cattle Vet Crush

I had one in there yesterday .Would have been right way up at your abode but upside down at mine . Not small , about 18 months and 350 kilos or so but didn't use the squeeze doors with his head in the bail and a bar behind I thought that would be ok to brand again as the first was not good...

    McDonald's wants "sustainable beef"

They mix in heart lungs liver kidney tongue and stomach into ground beef , add a little sugar to the patties and the buns and fools pay good money for that . I think they can sustain that activity for as long as the government lets them get away with lying and cheating like that.

Do most ranchers still brand their cattle or only use ear tags?

Until they get glass RFID implants going properly branding is the only way and I think even if the implants are made cheaper and useable for cattle control I will still brand. Its fun for the Grandchildren and for me . By crikey they jump don't they . Gets an approving laugh out of every kid...
