    Range cubes

What kind of feeding rates have you used them at? I am looking to suppliment third trimester until pasture, any recommendations? Thanks

I have considered straight cottonseed. I have no experience with it, only read about it. Due to my location and shipping and handling, i thought the addition of 50 percent cracked corn would help it flow and handle better. Also, i didn't know how the cows might react to them little fuzzy seeds...

    Range cubes

I am now considering a grain mix of half cracked corn half whole cotton seed. That would be around 15 protien and 15 fat. No out of wack minerals or trace elements for around the same price as cake, and no need to change mineral programs. If all a person was short was protien alfalfa would be...

    Range cubes

This is all the info they have been able to supply me with. Cost around $310 a ton. I understand with cubes i am going to pay for convenience. I like cubes for handling purposes. Cake broke cattle handle easily. It doesn't always come down to dollars and cents for me. I would like to direct this...

The trouble with analysis of forage is being capable of reading them. At least this dummy is honest. :lol2:

    Range cubes

I do have an analysis on my hay. It is 6.87% protien on dry matter basis. I would figure to feed 28-30 pounds a head a day. I guess what i am trying to do with supplimentation is mantain condition, maximize milk production, and try to get more bred first cycle. Seems to me the trouble is no...

I have not caked for a number of years, last cubes I used were from Loup Valley Alfalfa in Burwell. Of course there are a multitude of options out there, but nothing I know of like them old alfalfa cubes. The trendy thing on the market seems to be an extruded distillers cube. 28% protien 8%...

    Alley question

To be honest I haven't yet run the herd through it, only doctored a couple critters in it. So I cannot say if it will cause animal hesitation to get on the concrete, it never seemed to bother the couple critters I doctored. My place can get very soft and muddy which is why I wanted it on...

    Alley question

The sliding end gate keeps them in the alley. I do not want any no backs hanging in my alley. George I likely can't justify this set up with my numbers either, but my kids love to help with the cattle and I needed safer facilities than what I was using. Maybe someday I will have the numbers to...

    Alley question

Here is the tub and alley I got out of my brother on a labor trade deal. It is well built and just the way I wanted it. I only wanted it sheeted part way up so I can work with both feet on firm footing and I can also give shots in the alley and not have to catch every critter. As he said the...

I can agree with this quote, So you agree with Earl's decision to source product from the States. The problem is your actions to defend the author of the original subject matter as she degrades the American system and Earls restaurants choice. Actions speak louder than words.

I believe in calling a spade a spade. Disinformation and lies fall in one category to me. I agree whole heartedly with Brads statement, Brad, you just need to remember those in Canada do not understand the freedom our Founders intended for us, They are a lot further down the left path than...

    How many head per acre?

I live in very productive country, where hay meadows cut 3 ton an acre of native grass. I can't run 1 pair on 2 acres, 3 acres a pair is what I can do. 5 miles away it may take 12 to 15 acres a pair. Only someone very familiar with your location can give stocking rate advise. From the little of...

If I understand you right that is basically what I have in the second drawing. Moving cattle out of the pen on the south side of the barn has always worked well. If you work it as you describe I think you spend extra time chasing extra gates.
