    Cummins engine

I'd try putting in a circulating heater. I'm not sure how to plumb it in on a newer diesel, but on the older gas engines it was as easy as cutting a heater hose(which ever one is lowest off the engine) and then splice the heater in. I don't know why it wouldn't work. You just have to remember to...

    IDEA...Good or bad???

I was "thinking" my tractor, a IHC 1086 has dual PTOs. The mo-co I have is 540 rpm. Maybe a guy could jam another pump onto that 1000 rpm shaft(if there is room) ,that is just sitting there spinning, and just run lines up to the front....... It would drive my Boys crazy, having to watch...

    IDEA...Good or bad???

My mind wanders when I am on a tractor. Was cutting some hay today with a 16 foot mo-co. The tractor I have on it ,is actually too big for the job, but it is all I got. How cool would it be to mount another 16 foot header directly on the front of the tractor and cut 32 feet in one pass?? It...

    Massey Ferguson 135 Diesel

What is a MF 135 Diesel worth??? I bought one today for pulling a V-rake and other little jobs. They are great little tractors. I ran one mowing and raking hay for my Grandad 30+ years ago.......my uncle still has it and uses it all the time. The tin is pretty rough on the one I bought but...

A new windmill in secluded Sandhill country

Great photos Soapweed. Worth at least a thousand words each! :) How deep do you have to go for water? We are pretty lucky here. Some neighbors use drilled wells, but we have sandpoints at about 20 to 25 feet. We can pull and replace them or put in new ones in a matter of a couple hours. We...

    baler problems

Have you tried adjusting the release on your pickup teeth? By that ,I mean the eccentric track that the cams run in. I don't know what kind of baler you have, but on my Vermeer it is a simple adjustment. Just loosen a couple bolts and rotate the track on way or the other. I've had to mess...

You probably won't believe this but....

You're right, Mike. I made the whole thing up. Next time you put a new tire on something, don't worry about checking inside it for any stickers. Go right ahead and install it. A sticker will never, ever wear a hole through the tube.

You probably won't believe this but....

I had a flat tire on my SP swather. Front drive tire. This is a '78 or '79 5000 IHC. As far as I know it is still the original tires on it. My Dad bought it in the early '80s, never changed the tires, I bought it from him in 2000, never touched them. Anyway, I took the tire off, no small job...

    Best Tractor for small operation

If you're used to a 9N sized tractor, 135 MF is a step up. They had power steering, decent hydraulics and are very reliable, Perkins diesel as well. Pretty hard to beat the PS on the old 20 series JD's. Maybe a 3020 is too big for you?(about 65 hp). 2130 JD's were pretty good. Depends on...

    MIG Welders ???

Ahhh, but can anything compare to the classic lines of the AMC Pacer?? :D When I was much younger, we had some neighbors(immigrants from Saskatchewan  ) that had an AMC "Eagle", a Gremlin and a Pacer! They also had a Chevy 4X4 but they never drove it.Go figure. :? I better shutup...

    MIG Welders ???

Denny wrote... Denny, This one I'm looking at has a 20% duty cycle @ 130amps. Also,it doesn't have the digital readouts. I like lots of coffee breaks!! Does $600 bucks seem like a good price or is that too cheap to be expecting much quality??? :?

    MIG Welders ???

The one I've been looking at is a "Deca" brand(made in Italy  ). You can use flux core wire or get the gas kit for it. 230V input and 130 amps of juice. On sale for $600.00. I've got a Miller(stick) welder, had it for many years, love it. I'd like to stay with Miller or Lincoln but this...

    MIG Welders ???

I'm thinking about buying a MIG welder but don't know much about them price-wise,quality-wise, etc. My boys have been after me to get one so we can do body work and light stuff like that but I want something that will work for some heavier jobs like making gates and panels and other repair...

    My Old John Deere(pic)

I've got a service manual for it. Also there is a website called "4020.com", or something like that. If I remember right the FWA models are mentioned there. Will I get a % of your winnings??(just kidding) :D
