    Taking it in Stride…

Great post Burnt. I feel the same as BMR. My Dad and I have worked together in the oilfield at times, and of course farmed/ran cows together for years. He helped me get started farming my own land, and he helped me get started in the oilfield. Now years later that I have my own place and have my...

    Shovel Foot Toads

There are frogs and toads everywhere here this year, not sure of varieties, but there are lots. Even out in hay fields, pastures, I mean everywhere. I've seen toads the size of golf balls and some the size of grapefruit. What a year.

Janey Johnson's new album - The Guitar Song

I bought Jamey's last album, and became a fan, so I had to get his new 2-disc album. It's awesome. I think this guy is one of the best song writers goin' these days. The title track is a duet with Whisperin' Bill, one of my favorites, and his song "That's Why I Write Songs" gives me goose bumps...

    Beautiful Rainy Day

Good to hear you guys are getting it. Hope some comes this way too. We've had around 1" since we had a nasty snowstorm about the 20th of April. If we hadn't gotten that snow then, I'd hate to think of how dry we'd be now. The grass is really looking stressed already in places. It's supposed to...

Need Help Quick!! Attn: Sask Residents

SW, if I find a strip bar in Maple Creek, I can't imagine what'll be stripping and sliding up & down the pole. :P Thanks Cowsense. Jack's is where we're going to be staying, only it ain't Jack's anymore. It's been bought out, and now it's the Maple Creek Motor Inn. Sounds real good, and a good...

Need Help Quick!! Attn: Sask Residents

Hey there. We're heading for a bull sale in Maple Creek, and want to go down tomorrow night. Never been there, don't know where to stay, and can't get a hold of the guy putting on the sale. Does anybody have any recommendations? I've tried a couple hotels I found on the town website, but talking...

    WOW! Read This Obituary!

Every man dies, but not every man really lives. I'd say Mr. Fawcett truly lived.

    Wind & snow

We're lucky we don't usually get that kind of snow. We had 2-3" here this morning, and the road to town just has a few "finger drifts" coming across in places. The trail to the feedstacks is a different story.

    Pure Country/TV Star

Don't worry Northern, there'll be plenty of Glorious Galloway footage!! I'm sure they'll show the catching & tagging newborns on open range stuff. I stuffed my tagger in my back pocket and told the camera crew to stay put - with my kids at the truck no less - and after I'd caught the little...
