    Whitewing meets Chikungunya

Big Muddy, I haven't read up on West Nile, but I did see someone somewhere say the same...that there are similarities. On Saturday a buddy of mine who was recovering from it told me came as close to crying as he had in years from the pain and frustration from total lack of strength in his legs...

    Whitewing meets Chikungunya

And it wasn't pretty. Mosquito-borne virus that puts you on your back for 3-4 days. As my dad used to say, first I was afraid I was going to die, then I was afraid I wasn't. The powerful headache and fever were bad enough but the joint pain was almost unbearable. I swear, every bone in my...

Just so I've got this straight, the average citizen can't harrass the mustangs but the BLM can rope, brand, and sterilize them?

Outstanding photographs!!!!!! I can hardly wait to show these to my employees. That these horses live wild and are not allowed to be pursued by anyone will amaze them. BTW, that second paint colt is a real beauty.....mom too. Thanks for the photos!

All Blue-Eyed People Have Common Ancestor

Your highlighted statement isn't totally accurate.. In its simplist form, there are two genes for eye color: B = Brown eye b = Blue eye Here are your possible combinations: Person A: BB Brown eyes Person B: Bb Brown eyes with recessive gene for blue eyes Person C: bb Blue eyes The example...

All Blue-Eyed People Have Common Ancestor

It's been a LONG time since I studied genetics but I do recall that blue eyes result from recessive genes....that's to say, both parents must have the recessive gene in order for a child to be born with blue eyes. Don't know how it all relates to DNA markers and the such discussed in the...

Fascinating stuff and I had no idea. BMR hit the nail on the head though with his comments. If your country out there was populated by Venezuelans, there wouldn't be a wild mustang to be seen....they'd all be roped and working on someone's ranch. These folks are horse crazy down here...

    Guacharaca

I haven't but would love to do so. I like guineas. Like FH said, they're great watchdogs. I bought a neighbor's place a few years back and he had a bunch of guineas. Down to only one now. I need to buy a few more and get 'em kickstarted again.

    Guacharaca

A guy shows up at the house the other night with 3 eggs from one of these birds. He'd heard I have an incubator and so figured I'd be happy to have the eggs. I wasn't, but what could I do at that point? They're now in the oven. Don't know how long the incubation is but I suspect it's more...
