Feeding Big Squares with a Shredder

Lol. We've bale grazed a bit, but I think its more of a waste as well. I don't think tat would work, they're too long and too short for the arms to throw in.

Feeding Big Squares with a Shredder

Yeah, actually it is not white here. But it has been snowing. Cows have at least a month of grazing, unless we get a REAL dump of snow.... Bale grazing won't be happening here this year...Efficient or not.

Feeding Big Squares with a Shredder

OK, we have a truck with a hydra deck, we bought the processor last fall, so upgrading is not going to happen this year :? . And the truck will bring the bales to the processor (rather than drive it back and forth 4 times or so) to save a lot of time. The thing is we have about 700 3x4x8...

Feeding Big Squares with a Shredder

So here's our dilemma, we will be feeding about 300 head of cows this winter. We have a Highline 6600 bale processor. We've fed 3x4x8 squares through it before, but have always used a second tractor to load with. That's not too big of a deal when we're feeding at home, but we are going to be...

    Feeding advice from the experts!

We have swath grazed oats, wheat and triticale, without electric fencing. The wheat and triticale were pretty poor crops, but the oats was a decent crop. I would be afraid to swath graze Barley, Triticale or any other 'hot' crop if it was a good crop without electric fencing. I am located in the...

    Scaling babies

We use our single animal scale. The bars are portable so for calving season they go to the barn, once we're done they go back under the cage. I did the tape thing one year and also weighed the calves, most of the time is was within 5 lbs, but there were enough that were out by 10+ lbs that I...

    Ranch Management Software

Ranch Manager by www.lionedge.com I've been using it for a number of years, they have great support and have mobile options for anyone using an Iphone. It's a pretty user friendly system, and they listen to any suggestions you give them as well.

    Coyote

Here's what the heifers look like now. They are all in calf, and the ones we got 2 years ago are all still here too, they have all raised 2 good calves and are all bred back again. Pretty impressed with them!

    Fun with Ace

Hey, that is awesome to hear! Glad he is working out well for you! The one pup we kept, jumped under the wheel of the truck one day when I was out checking cows. That hurt, he was really good and looked like he was going to make a great dog too!
