Our calving barn has a smooth cement floor and no problems.If you do have a cow get hurt during calving season,it's best to put her on a dirt floor as she won't get good footing on a smooth floor and it will make matters worse for you.

I had 2 bulls pull that crap this fall,finally got them caught and they got a 1 way trip to the stockyards.

Was at a 500 bred cow sale yesterday,the old,poor bagged cows are bringing $1600 which would be slaughter price.Good cows are $2000 to $2400 and heifers up to $2600.

Bulls are getting pretty picked over already,i try and always keep a couple extra ones around.I might not need them,but if i do it's sure nice to have them.

That is defiantly one thing i miss by our auction mart closing years ago,next closest one is a couple hours away.Our local stockyards just deals with cows,bulls and weaned calves.

When i get a stupid calf that can't figure out how to drink on it's own,or because a cow has to big of tits.I put the cow in the headgate,and i help it suck until the calf has decided it is full.If the reason it couldn't figure out how to suck was because her tits were to big,i will milk the cow...

Yes they were just over slaughter price,it did not make a bit of sense why those early calving cows sold so high.I bet the next regular sale,they will all be cheap again.

If that barn is wood sided and not tin.Have roughly 6 cows in there and they will heat it up quite nicely.
