    sale results SAV

That all sounds great, but the only reason I can reason someone would buy a bull would be to breed cows the year they are buying it. If they get a dud and a credit to next years sale, it sure doesn't help get the original job done which was to get bulls bred this year.

    herefords bulls

I would get your hereford genetics from a can, and cleanup with angus. Real good herefords are few and far between and the angus genetics are light years ahead of herefords as a total package and being widely available. I asked about this a year ago and ai'd my cows to Domino 3027 based off...

    Feeder Cattle

Crossbreeding continuously proves to be counterproductive to good carcass genetics. Aladar, Got any registration numbers on some of those bulls. Interested in your program.

    Feeder Cattle

a 70% dressing steer that averaged 5lbs./day gain would be a sight to behold, doubt those steers are coming from an order buyers collection.

    Opinions wanted from Hereford outfits

Asked the same question a couple of months ago. And my attention got drawn to Domino 3027 from the ABS catalog, was looking for something from one of the big semen warehouses as I only got 50 units so didn't want to do a lot of shipping around for a small volume. Really like the Maternal...

    Hereford and Baldy guru's

Really like what I see on the 3027 bull. Negative BW, good growth and good carcass. One of the things that concerned me with Harland is it appeared he was a little bigger framed, so knowing 3027, better balances the frame to solid muscle build is very helpful. Lots of great ideas and...

    Hereford and Baldy guru's

Looking at trying to make some baldies on my black angus cows. Got my eye on Harland, is he smoke and mirrors or the real deal. Would he work ok on black heifers calving ease wise? Thanks for the input.

Looking at some young Angus Bull and could use a lottle help

but what kind of defects do all the other bulls have? The only reason Precision 1680's defects have been found is because his genetics have been used so extensively. Use any other sire that much and you will be sure to find other defects.

    Higher AI Success

Now this is a very good idea and would make timed ai almost a no-brainer, BUT I bet it will cost more than a commercial beef guy could ever afford.

Ethanol byproducts could increase polio in cattle

I hope there are more with your mentality to keep the demand and prices down on the ethanol byproducts. Greatest feed since the indians came up with the corn kernel.

    Cows won't go in woods...

bobcats, bears, mountain lions, cougars, wild hogs? Something hanging out in the woods that isn't to friendly I'd suspect

    Crazy

For $1700 I'd cut their nuts and finish them out. Deduct the semen testing and marketing PIA and you'll be way money ahead finishing them out. I'm guessing another month or two, close outs on calf-feds are going to be pushing $1700 gross, awfully dang close right now.

Keeping a lid on cattle prices

Is $40/month that bad? I'm thinking I could do ok with current feed prices dropping a pair off in a fenced pasture that will give them good feed from spring to weaning, then having a $700+ calf to sell before dumping the cow out on corn stalks for the winter. But what do I know, I'm surrounded...
