    cattle auctions

I don't understand auctioneers, other than the fact that most of them think they are smart enough to set the market. Especially at bred cattle sales, they waste a lot of hot air trying start every bunch at $3-500/head higher than they will sell for. I think if they would just start them low...

So FH, did you sell your cows yet?

    Calf sales this year

It always happens moreso when the market gets sticky. However, a good sale barn will control the cutoffs to an extent.

    Feeding straw ?

Grind your hay and wheat straw together and self-feed it. They'll do great.

    Portable calving sheds.

I'll bet you could hire Sparky to make you one!

    Calf Prices

Guess I'll ask to get paid in Canadian dollars when I sell then!!

    Calf Prices

That looks pretty similar to here. Good 550 weight steers are lucky to get $1.05 and heifers are about 12 cents back.

    Castrating male calves

I band at birth and have had no problems. I've done it within minutes sometimes, but it's usually easier after they're dried off. I've never really paid attention to whether the band is pulled down close to the testicles or not, as long as I had them both captured. I've never seen directions...

    Don't make my expensive mistake...

I use the Allflex guns and like them pretty well. I've always thought them to be pretty accurate. The 25cc gun works especially well for small doses. I do appreciate the tip about checking the accuracy, though. What are detectable needles?

    Moved Cows to My "Creep"

You probably won't have a problem but a test is pretty cheap and quick for peace of mind.

    Bull Business

That's just pretty egotistical to think you can make buyers go out of their way like that.

As a bull buyer, if you won't take my check, I won't buy your bull.

    Cow/Calf pairs for sale

That has to be a tough decision, especially since it doesn't sound like your pair market is real hot up there. Hope you find someone that can pay what they're worth.

    Australian Beef Imports Up

Do you honestly believe consumers are going to willingly pay more if they have a choice between what they perceive as comparable products?

Checking on, looking for and moving cows.

Sounds like gathering and moving cows is quite a time-consuming project out there. We do enjoy the picture tours! Did you ever get a turkey??
