Calf sales this year

Does it seems the salebarns are picking apart the calves more than they ever have in awhile? Seems any little defect just cuts the bid in half, speck in the eye, bobbed tail, ears a little nipped. Everyone knows they feed all the same, just seems the cow/calf man is getting hammered from all directions this fall. I could understand if they want to knock them back a dime, but man, it is a buyers market this fall. Just some evening rambling.

No optimism means picky buyers. Maybe they will be able to make enough on the blemishes to survive another year.

When we ship I will sort off all the blems and feed them out at home.I've been thinking of buying some of those odds and end calves. I've got the feed might as well use it up. :wink:

They are pretty picky here these days I hear.

Just a sign of the times I guess.

It always happens moreso when the market gets sticky. However, a good sale barn will control the cutoffs to an extent.
