    Catering a Luncheon

Today it was my turn to cater lunch.... This is my equipment The luncheon crowd has been known to get a little rowdy, so I bring a couple of bouncers along... The crowd actually gets treated quite well, here is my view of the main course... And since the equipment has an aversion to...

    Camera Question

Depends what you want, just a point and shoot or a DSLR? I started with a Sony Cybershot, it was a great little camera. But since I wanted more control over my photos I bought a Canon T4i last fall and I absolutely love it. But a lot more $$ than a simple point and shoot camera too.

    Recent Photos

Since I took too many photos to simply copy and past, here's a link to most of the photos I've taken this year. The most recent ones were taken today and it is mostly the bred heifers and some cows and calves. Hope you enjoy them! http://s291.photobucket.com/user/randilianaz2/library/2013%20cows

So I Was Working at the Stockyards Today

It was sale day, and there were quite a few head there. 1700 yearlings, to be exact. Prices were pretty good I think, 989 lb Hereford steers brought $1325.26. And it seemed that most of the other cattle brought some pretty good dollars too. Thought I would share a couple of shots that I took...

    Busy Summer

Finally, a moment to post some photos! It has been pretty busy around here this summer, and a long, cool and wet summer to boot. We are finally getting some heat and that is nice although kinda hard to adjust to. Crops are looking pretty awesome and so are the cattle. I've been busy showing my...

A Handful of Photos From the Last Day or Two

Here is possibly my favorite photo! This is my DD and her bottle calf. The calf was one of a set of twin heifers that a 2 year old heifer had, by herself, I might add. So this calf has been on the bottle from about her second day. We thought we'd find a mama for her, but it never happened. The...

    The Last Few Days (pics)

Thanks guys! We've had a couple of really wet years, so there is a lot of old grass. If you don't have any old stuff left over from the past couple of years you'd have to be pretty over stocked. It is dry enough though, 1/2-1" of rain would make quite a difference. I was actually quite surprised...

    The Last Few Days (pics)

The sun has finally come out, the temperatures are warming up and the grass is greening too. The last few days we have been busy, fencing, moving cows, fencing, moving cows.... DH has done a little field work too, and we have about 1/2 the herd branded and vaccinated. Here's some of what we've...

    A Few Photos From Today

That is exactly right Denny. I'm actually fairly certain that that grass is Crested Wheat. It is about the first to green up around here.

    A Few Photos From Today

That pasture is one we just rented. Hasn't had cattle in it for 2 or 3 years. But, we had a lot of rain last year, and the pastures are in pretty good shape. LazyWP, the stuff we call downy brome around here is pretty invasive, it will take over just about anything, alfalfa, crop land, tame...

    A Few Photos From Today

I actually think that the grass is Crested Wheat Grass. But, it could be Quack grass or (I hope not) Downy Brome..... Those calves are all 1/2 Shorthorn, that sure seems to add the hair to them! I love that #112 heifer, she is a sweet heart. The heifers are all looking pretty good. White tag...

    A Few Photos From Today

Saturday was a big day here. We sorted about 250 pair, about 7 or 8 different ways. It was a long day, but things went quite well. Today we went out and found that a gate had been broken down and 2 of the larger sorted bunches will have to be resorted..... That will probably be tomorrow's job...

    Finally Got Some Pictures(Lots)

RSL, hoping we miss that snow too. I'm not sure if we are supposed to be in for it, but Opheim weather is calling for 2-5 inches and that is enough anyways.

    Finally Got Some Pictures(Lots)

Thanks guys!! Soap, this is a rather boring year here, we were down a Hereford bull so most of the calves are red or black, with a few white faces thrown in... The grey one was a bit of a change though!

    Finally Got Some Pictures(Lots)

So we started calving about 10 days ago, I finally had a chance to get out with my camera and take some photos. The calves are growing pretty good so far. Our BW's are down again this year, we had a pretty warm winter again. The white tags are heifers and the orange are steers. Couple of 10 day...

Allen Leigh. We just bought one for the barn at Agribition. The house is about 300' from the barn and it works good.
