I sold my calves today ( they had been weaned 13 days )

I sold 6 "will be" steers and 9 hiefers. The purchaser will come with vet to casterate and vacinate ( abort the hiefers ) and I will hold them another week but the customer pays vet bill.

When he picks them up we will weigh and I get $1.20 stright across - - - he tried to get me to throw in the 6 hiefers I'm keeping back.

This is not as much as I keep seeing but I ran the whole 21 head across the scale and had 12,750# so I feel good about my little herd of smokey calves ( the same man has bought my calves for the last 10 years so he must like them )

I can still remember being very glad to get $500.00 for fat steers!

And I'd bid $1.23

Six weight steers here are $1.40+ and the heifers a dime back directly off the cow.

No wonder your buyer likes your calves so much George. :D

If you're happy I'm happy George :D
I may have read that wrong but did you say you had to abort the heifer calves?

Yes I abort the hiefers as they have been running with their half brothers and might have gotten bred. Just a precaution.
