Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things..

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987.

They are too young to remember the first space shuttle blowing up on liftoff.


Their lifetime has always included AIDS.


Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.


The CD was introduced the year they were born.


They have always had an answering machine.


They have always had cable.


They cannot fathom not having a remote control.


Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.


Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.


They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.


They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.


They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.


They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane, Boss, de plane".


They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.


McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.


They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.


Do you feel old yet? Pass this on to the other old fogies on your list. Notice the larger type, that's for those of you who have trouble reading...

Now I really feel old........uugggggg well I can say I was only 12 in 75 and that wasnt till Aug sooooooooo LOL

Heck, many kids today probably don't know how to
define "cook".
That and the fact that I don't own a cell phone really
have separated me from this new generation.

We were talking with a young gal with financial problems.
Turns out she doesn't cook, eats out all the time.
And hadn't calculated the financial drain!! :roll:
She dismissed it with, "Well, I just don't plan ahead
enough to buy the food, and then there's remembering
to thaw it out... :roll: :???:
 
You don't have to be a teenager in '75 to know about all those things. Growing up where and like I did thinks were simple. Didn't have a microwave till after I was in highschool and I was the dishwasher.

This list may just be reflective of a simpler life rather than one 30 years ago.

I turned the ripe old age of 13 in 1975. I can still remember a lot of stuff from the mid-70's so I must not have what's-his-names disease too bad ..... yet! :roll: :D :lol:

I read your post about your 66 Impala when you were in college. My first new car was a 66 Impala and I was just thinking , the new pick up I bought in '04 cost as much as 11.3 of those Impalas.
 
Thanks Soapweed for making me feel very old. Johnney Carson is and was one of my favorites...
Who use to put peanuts in there Coka Cola... And it was in a glass bottle?????

I paid $900 for the 1966 Impala convertible, in the spring of 1970. After the engine went bad that fall, I traded it straight across "as is" for the 1966 VW pickup, which was priced at $600. Poor trade. :cry: :?

Thanks for the additional grey hairs....gonna have in invest in, yet, another bottle of miss clairol (heard from a reliable source that it works well :wink: )....my oldest was born in 1987 and it is hard for me to believe that he never heard "Where's the Beef?" or "da plane, boss...da plane!"...Lord...am I really THAT old?! I still remember bell bottoms (you know, the pants that kids call "flare leg"), hip huggers (yeah, kids...."low rise") and platform shoes (yes, again..."wedgies") and the really BIG HAIR of the 80's!!! :lol: :lol: Deja Vu, folks!! Our kids now think they invented most of these things....went through some of my dad's old things the other day and we found an OLD movie camers..you know..the kind that played off the spool and you had to have the white sheet on the wall to watch!! My 18 year old had a blast trying to figure out how to work it...then laughed his ass off when he saw his mom (then only 3 years old) fall down a hill running for Easter Eggs!! :shock:
 
yup!didn't realize i was gettin old.came in house one time kids playin with TV,tryin to get color,movie was an old black and white!and don't think my kids know a tv CAN be turned on and off manually!

My kids are completely lost without the remote!! :lol: :lol: But, then again...so is the hubby!

Funny how you would post this today, here is a picture of my brothers 50th birthday party on Saturday night. It was a dress in 1974 style thing, mom said some of the younger people weren't sure if they should be there or not.
Willie Nelson got to meet Paul Revere, I'm not sure about the raiders, but I think that is what happened to that truck load of silverbullets that cowboyup was looking for :wink:

home, being the good little boy that I am, or maybe since he is fifty I must be close by and the 8 hour drive over there, the 20 hours of consuming barley pop and the 8 hour drive back is too much for us old folk :wink:
 
Paul Revere and the Raiders OMG,talk about a blast from the past...not that I remember ANY of that :D
 
I will still put peanuts in my coke at times Katrina. They don't taste as good in the plastic as the glass bottle, but at least you don't chip your teeth trying to get those last two that are stuck to the bottom of the bottle! :lol:

OMG....Coke in a GLASS bottle...something else my kids had never seen, til i found some "limited edition christmas" coca-cola at target!! the bottles were small, but my kids were simply stunned at the GLASS bottles!! I remember going to the local mom'n'pop store in deerlodge and buying the bottles outta the little machine and having the whole thing guzzled by the time i got the 4 blocks home!!
 
I like to have my peanuts with my barley pop :!:
 
Used o be the treat of the month. I'd get to go to the feel mill with dad to grind feed. I'd save nickles all month so I could get a bottle of "pop" out of the machine. Cold and all mine! 35 cents.
