I've mentioned that we bought our first 4 wheeler; now we are considering another one, BUT the dealership has a great deal on a Brand new '07 (I think) Kawasaki Mule. It would run about $1000 more than
the Yamaha 4 wheeler and it would be for me. Mr. FH has a fencing
rig, so that isn't part of the decision. He loves his 1977 IHC Scout.
So, what should I do? I really don't know.
Any advice will be appreciated.

I kinda scared myself when I (almost) ran the customers Suzuki through the barb wire gate. I'm wondering if the Mule wouldn't be safer for me.
And, are Mules any good?

Thanks!

I'd go with the Mule if you're purchasing another one. Boy, when you make a change, you go all out  . Both are handy in their own ways, and you'll be surprised how much use you'll have for them. I'm a wheeler fan since I like to hop off when I need to, however in the winter, the Mule would be nicer riding if it has a cab.

ATV's are quite a bit handier and wayyyy safer-nobody has been killed on an ATV up here that I know of but there's usually a couple people cash it in on four wheelers every year. I'd spend the extra $1,000.

The Mule doesn't have a cab and I won't ride it in winter.

I had both my knees injected on Monday and the doctor says I'm
going to need knee replacement when the shots no longer work.
That's why the big change!! I'll always love and respect horses.
I think if I were you I'd follow the lead of Soapweed, Hanta Yo, and the others who are running Polaris Rangers, and I'm sure they can tell you why. I wish I would have bought one (although the Kubota is safe for kids and clean inside), and might one of these days.......but on the other hand Matt Roloff seems to love his Mule.

Although I've never ridden a Kawasaki Mule, I would recommend a Polaris Ranger. They are smoother riding, go faster, and the bench seat that holds three people is a real plus. I can load eighteen sacks of salt and mineral, and enjoy riding up through the hills to distribute it. Forget the cab--they are more fun to ride without it. :-)

Some folk's we rent ground from have a mule they really like it. I've rented from them since 2002 and they had before I came along. It is dependable and works fine for taking out mineral as they like to have me use it instead of a pickup. Another neighbor is on his 4th polaris ranger in 4 years he's not been real satisfied but then again the Pope himself could'nt satisfy the whiner. Me being economical I'd buy the mule and I would never buy another quad the ATV's are quite handy for you and a guest or two.

You can putt around a pasture looking at cow's and visiting in a ATV but try that on a quad then crawling on and off a quad get's tiresome in my book.

The mule is going to be pretty slow compaired to a ranger or rhino or even the big red. But they have been around a while and have proven to be reliable. For the price I would say go for it.

The mule is "suppose" to be just like the kabota. Ours are great. We have the roof and windshield but no doors. For the price and the need I say you wont regret it. Post pics when you get one.

Maybe you can get this one and have Kola pick it up for you. Run through the pictures, IMO the IRS is worth alot. Ride is important.

That's a sharp looking outfit. Wow. I could buy that and get a trip out of the deal. WOOOO HOOOOO!!!
But then I could buy it at home at home, save money on the deal and have service. :P

I did find our Scout on ebay. It was 50 miles away and cost $1200 ( and has a cab, even.) :P :) :) :) :) :)
That's why I hate to pay even $7800 for a mule.

This would be my next mule............diesel/power steering .
good luck

Faster last fall my dad bought my mom a Honda Rubicon. She could have gotten a mule or something like that but since she rides an atv and not a horse she needed to feel safe and secure on it in the hills. She felt this model offered that for her. She is very happy with it. It even got hit by a very mad heifer that Dad, mom, and I had doctored and it did no damage to the 4 wheeler.

P.S. Don't be spending all your money now I think there is a lowline in your future.

I can compromise on the mineral. We'll feed them Vigratone, Viagratone, I mean Vigortone. :D At their size I won't mind buying the bag or two a year and with your dealer discount...........
