I have been a supporter of 4-H and FFA for many years. However one needs to read this and relate it to non traditional familys that are becoming involved in 4-H and FFA these days.
Its not uncommon (in this area of the country) for somone to have as young as a 3 year old showing a goat of lamb. Paretns themsleves not having much livestock handling skills. Lately a country fair several very young kids with goat projects would have parent drag the goat or lamb into the show ring with a halter. It went as far as a goat with a broken or sore foot hanging its leg in the ring and then falling down going out the show ring with the children kicking the goat as it fell to the ground. Those storys like that is where these writers make these stories.
