I have been having hay shoot up the front of the baler when I start forming a core. I have had it do this when the hay is a bit tough and also when it's quite dry. Is it normal or do i have a problem?

Between the belts and the duckbill? I had that for the first time this year with hay and with straw when it was really dry and fine. Then the next thing that happens is that the knife gets clogged and doesn't cut the netwrap . . . maybe you are using twine though so then you wouldn't have that little issue.

my 664 will do that sometimes if the hay is bone dry. but not always, and never for more than a few seconds.

i don't think you have a problem, with the baler that is.

Windrow pheasants.

We had the trouble in dry hay -- shut the baler down drive forward a bit and let hay build up on pickup teeth- 5-6 feet- start baler at idle and see if it pickups the plug at once and then run on down the windrow. worked for us
