I have an opportunity to buy some heifers out of Bon View 878 Bull. I don't have any cattle out of him, but have heard the daughters are good? Was also wondering about there disposition? I see his docility epd# is 4. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't touch heifers out of that bull. For one thing, I detest Bon View Bando 598. They get taller and more narrow with age, very hard doing cattle IMO. If you do look at the heifers, check out their leg structure. That was a real problem with the 036 bred cattle.

FWIW

I was not pleased with the bull when we used him...Open 2nd and 3rd calvers, foot problems, and like FH said hard doers... Some of the daughters were a little hot too... I would never use the bull again or want any of his daughters... They were the last straw that made us decide to look for some more maternal bloodlined cattle...
On the positive side- he was a pretty easy calver and even worked well on heifers for us... I don't remember any calving problems with the daughters except for the occasional one wanting to play Rob Smets with you...

We have Bond View 598 and New Design genetics and have never had a problem.

And that may be because of a difference in management and environment... I think if they have lots of vittles and are cornfield grazed and supplemented with silage over the winter they may do well- but in semi-arid areas where they live only on pasture and a little winter hay-- they have not been that impressive...
Definitely not low input cattle...
