One Reporter's Opinion - Parenthood Unconstitutional?
George Putnam
Friday, Nov. 11, 2005
It is this reporter's opinion that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, known for its judicial activism and brazen rulings, has topped itself with a ruling that has all but declared, "PARENTHOOD UNCONSTITUTIONAL."

The court recently dismissed a lawsuit brought by California parents outraged over a sex survey given to public school students in the FIRST, THIRD and FIFTH grades.

The survey, administered by the Palmdale School District, asked these youngsters the following (among other things):

Do you ever think about having sex?

How do you feel about touching other people's "private parts"?

Are you able to stop thinking about having sex?
Mind you, asking these little kids who are having all they can do to learn "Readin', 'Ritin' and 'Rithmetic."

The parents are furious and argued that THEY, not the public schools, have the sole right to control the upbringing of their children when it comes to matters of and relating to sex. But a three-judge panel of the Circuit Court dismissed the case, saying, "There is no fundamental right of parents to be the exclusive provider of information regarding sexual matters to their children," that "parents have no due process or privacy right to override the determinations of public schools as to the information to which their children will be exposed while enrolled as students."

And who do you suppose wrote the decision of the panel? Judge Stephen Reinhardt – the husband of Ramona Ripston, of the ACLU. Reinhardt wrote, "No specific right can be found in the deep roots of the nation's history and tradition or implied in the concept of ordered liberty."

A spokesperson for Focus on the Family Action calls the ruling "one of the most abhorrent examples of judicial tyranny in American history."

But the 9th Circuit did more than rule against parents who are upset that their elementary school-aged children were being asked explicit questions about sex in class. They told all parents, "You have no right to protest what public schools tell your children."

Essentially, they declared PARENTHOOD UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

It has long been the liberal view that "it takes a village to raise a child." But never before have the villagers been elevated as a matter of law above mothers and fathers. Every parent in America should be up in arms over this decision. That goes for liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans – Americans!

Of all the circuit courts, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is the most reversed in its decisions. It is the same court that struck down the Pledge of Allegiance because of the phrase "Under God."
