LIVING WILL


I, _________________________ (fill in the blank), being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.


Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of peckerwood ethically challenged politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it.


If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to sit up and ask for a cold beer, it should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my spouse, children and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day.


Under no circumstances shall the hypocritical members of the Legislature (State or Federal) enact a special law to keep me on life-support machinery. It is my wish that these boneheads mind their own business, and pay attention instead to the health, education and future of the millions of Americans who aren't in a permanent coma.


Under no circumstances shall any politicians butt into this case.


I don't care how many fundamentalist votes they're trying to scrounge for their run for the presidency, it is my wish that they play politics with someone else's life and leave me alone to die in peace.


I couldn't care less if a hundred religious zealots send e-mails to legislators in which they pretend to care about me. I don't know these people, and I certainly haven't authorized them to preach and crusade on my behalf. They should mind their own business, too.


If any of my family goes against my wishes and turns my case into a political cause, I hereby promise to come back from the grave and make his or her existence a living hell.

How 'bout this:


I being of sound mind don't want an abusive spouse determining my fate

I don't want someone that lies about me having a heart attack and other suspicious maladies allegedly responsible for my incompacity, making decisions for me.

I don't want someone who first says I wanted one thing and then "remembers" I wanted something else, making decisions for me.


and on and on about everything describing the Scheivo decision.
 
Brad-----this posting is not JUST about the tragic Schaivo case!!! This posting is a humorous attempt to remind us all how important it is to have our wishes KNOWN to those who love us and will be responsible for making some very difficult decisions should we be unable to do so ourselves!!! As a nurse, i have seen this all too often....a young person incapacitated for whatever reason and the family feuds begin!! :cry: Simply put it in writing....no matter how young you are and it will save your family (and yourself) alot of grief!

Dog, you are a fool or a liar and I don't care to distinguish. About 85% of your post only deals with 1 case in memorable history - the Scheivo case. Let's break it down:

This could be a real effort at end of life planning, or when viewed with the totality of your post - Scheivo

If you want to raise a political point, use the political board. Don't piss on my boots and tell me its a rain storm. Your post serves mostly to raise a dishonest criticism, and has almost no value as an end of life planner.

As You post: You started with nothing and still have most of it left.

You could have Not said your nothing comments and saved all that nothing and we would have been nothing for the worse but now we all know you know Nothing of witch you speek.
