We've had cold mornings (down to -28 C ) and shirtsleeve, sunny afternoons for the last week. Cloudy this morning. Our generator died yesterday morning, we were expecting this and had already bought a replacement. Made the change yesterday afternoon, needed some electrical wire that I didn't have. Got some from a neighbor last night and wired it in at 5 this morning. COFFEE! :D

Hope you get some rain Haymaker, the Almanac says this country is supposed to be dry this summer also.
I guess we'll take what we get and deal with it accordingly.

Is the generator the only power you have?

Yes, the closest powerline is 15 miles away. Satelite phone also.

We left out about 11 am headin to Conroe. Rained buckets on us on the way. Called home, and Mr Lilly said we'd gotten 1/2 inch in 30 minutes or so. Then it cleared up, and was sunshiny but cold the rest of the day. Barrel race had 300 runners, and we didn't get home till around midnight last night. Had to drag coveralls outta the back of the truck n put em on after the sun went down. Brrrrrrrr

Normally we run a 10 kw gen set. This new one is not going to stay here long I think. We have gotten 12-14 hours out of 5 gallons of diesel with the past two, this one is a 15 kw and ran out in 3.5 hours. We'll see if it gets better as it is brand new. Will rebuild the Isuzu that died shortly.

Someday........want to put in batteries, inverter, and a water charger to produce of our household power needs. That project is about $25000 away.

When you are ready to make that move gcreek, pm me. Several around here have gone that route. I might be able help you avoid some pitfalls. Free power can be expensive.

I know what you mean. The salespeople just love a customer that comes in and says, " I don't really know what I'm talking about but I want........." :x
