I didn't realize there were llamas in the Sandhills. :?

Due to the dry conditions the deepest of the area we go to is only knee deep. It's fun to take chairs and sit them in the river and just enjoy the day. :D

Thank you for the comment on the pictures! :D

What you call a river there we call a puddle here... :D ..The timber and folage is also really different to from what we have here..It looks like a really cool calm place for a picnic along the side of the river...nice trees just high enough to sit under for shade and I like the idea of chairs in the river, sounds like a nice way to say cool and keep your beer cold... ...Very nice pics, keep posting them :) .

Neat picture of the Eagle's nest. I sure would like to see an Eagle. If not get to photograph one some day. We've had a bald eagle coming the last couple years and roosting across the road from our entry gate, but I've never been lucky enuff to see it. Father n Law and Mr Lilly both have seen it.

I was sorta let down..... thought for SURE there was gonna be skinny dippin pictures.

pretty country though!

Could be worse, they could be Alpacas, lol.... Those are starting to pop up all over the place around here.. Geuss the investors in this didn't learn from the Emu, Ostrich, Lllama, Bison etc boom busts of the past...

I'm thinking these are the Niobrara river shots? Are those llama's hid well in the deep part of the hills? Wouldn't want to scare any cows...lol

Great pictures

We go thru your country every year on the way to pheasant hunting in S.D.. I've always thought it would be a great place to ranch. I grew up in bone dry southern colorado and always envied anyone with green grass and water.

My Grandpa always used to say the grass was belly deep on the cows when he bought the place in the 30's. I finally figured out he had really short cows.

I sure do miss those old Herefords though.

and the Grandpa.

One more thought.

It looks like you might be near the Nebraska National forest.

That's the best laugh I have all year when we drive thru that FOREST for about 5 miles. We may not beat you very often in football but I'm pretty sure we kick your butts on the forest thing. LOL

You should come up here we have lots of Bald Eagles.Yesterday I saw 2 adults and 4 juvinile eagles lined up on fence posts. One adult was in the field so I would assume there was something dead in the field all they really are is a pretty buzzard.

....and where was your camera??????

I have almost identical pictures, (shallow place to sit in a lawn chair, eagles' nest on the south side of the river, etc.) from this past June...a class reunion gathering south of Gordon. You weren't over there were you? I suppose a lot of the Niobrara is pretty similar, no matter where you jump in.

My family vacationed in MN this summer, near Brainerd. While we were fishing in the boat, 2 bald eagles flew about 20 feet above the boat. First I'd seen any, and it was pretty cool!
