I had to run over to Reserve, to the bank this morning, and on the way back, stopped here and there, and took a few pics to (hopefully) enter in our fair next week........thought ya'll might like a little 'sneak preview'......

The creek that runs after it's rained, over on the south side of the mountain...there are a couple of tiny waterfalls, but they don't show up very well.

Same creek, just around the bend from the last one. I always thought this would be a pretty place to picnic, if it wasn't so close to the road.

A yellow wildflower by the highway.

An old pole corral on the ranch Hubby & Al are working on.

A rather large (about 3,000# worth) Brahma steer that belongs to some neighbors.......he was just kicked back in the wildflower patch, and I couldn't resist shooting him.

A couple of Miss Tillerie (Al's Grand Champion Heifer from the 2006 Fair)
Poor girl, the flies are so bad after all the rain we've had, but on the up side, so is the feed! She looks like she's been eating well.......

With all your pictures you have of your beautiful country I'll bet you'll come up with some good ones for the fair! Thanks and let us know how it goes for ya!

Thanks, guys! :D

LOL, HAY MAKER! He's pretty much dog-gentle, they raised him from a tiny sprite, on a bottle......but notice I didn't get out of the pickup, to get him up........ Al's friend, Benjie, has a picture of himself, riding Red (saddle and everything), when Red was about 2, and Benjie was about 5 or 6. That would make Red 14, or thereabouts.........

Hubby said that they got the herd in and were hauling the rest of the heifers and bull that Tillie was with, over to another pasture yesterday afternoon. He said that he and Papa were cutting the herd, Al was running the gate. Hubby felt something on the back of his neck, and turned around to see what it was, and looked straight into Red's nose! Of course, Red was on a little hump in the corral, and Hubby was in a kinda hole, but still.........that's one big Brahma steer!

Yeah that new mexico country sure is pretty . My dad worked over there on the vermejo park ranch years ago over there before Ole Ted Turner had it of course , when it was still a cow outfitt .
