I set the calves on their rump on the bike step to tag and band. Only have had one cow come over the bike after me, she hasn't calved yet this year so I have at least one wreck to look forward to.

Nice pics. Love the lambs :) Your still hanging onto snow,none here but boy its dry out here. No mud puddles for the 4 yr old grandboy to run through this Easter.... :?

i had to send mine in for repairs recently ,brakes,3 cv boots.front u joint and knuckles[covered by waranty]oil change after 8000 kms the bill was 1110 dollars but it is cheaper than using anything else to get around on
 
I've taken to roping calves that need doctoring from mine as they are so used to seeing the 4 wheeler that i can get upto a group of calves easier that way than on foot.drop the rope over the one i want hang on then get off and snub up to the rack.while the calf is tiring out i get my medication ready works good better than chasing them down on foot

I've got a hook, works good even at high speeds. :shock: Most of the time I can idle up while they are sleeping and get within reach. Haven't had brakes for two years, a guy sure learns to compensate. :D
 
:shock: Took me a minute to figure out which end of the bike I was looking at! :lol: I blame it on that front tire thats on the wrong side of the bike :wink: And I thought mine was getting rounded off on the corners.
I'm betting you've got some cows with a healthy respect for that thing though!
 
I'll bet that Polaris sure runs alot COOLER now, without all the extra body-work up front...lol

Purty creative place to mount the single fog-light for head-lamp...and cheaper to replace when you mash it again...$21.00 for a set of two at Wally-World, as opposed to @ $450.00 for new L & R Front fenders with integral-headlamps.

That's cowboy-engineering for ya !

Anyone still calving/feeding in the US Rocky-Mtn region that still needs help ?

Riding without brakes........... :shock: been there; done that........gotta select your drivin path just abit ahead of time to avoid the spills. When my quads brakes quit it's because the brake pads are wore down enough that it leaks the brake fluid out the calipers. Simple to fix but everything is expensive to replace on Jap quarterhorses!
 
When I used to guide our bikes didn't have brakes either so it was downshift to slow down. I big Lunkhead from Pennsylvania just about did us in when he wouldn't get his foot off the shift lever lol. As for roping off quads I saw the remains of one that a guy roped a Charolais cow off of and tied hard!!!!

I would just wreck that too. :lol: Although it would be a challenge getting through the timber with an extra six feet stuck out the side.
 
remind me to tell you no if you ever want to borrow a truck!!! your cows look good, that's exactly the kind i grew up with :)

That's probably true :P .Be careful roping calves from that thing.Seen a couple very close call wrecks doing that.Horses are kinda good for roping and holding things :wink:
 
Haven't roped much off the "horse". I have a hook, much like a shepards crook about 6 feet long that I can idle by and snag a hind leg with. I have tailed down some big cattle "charro style" and that works pretty good on the right ground. Don't think I'd ever tie hard and fast, I wouldn't want to wreck Ol Red. :wink: :lol:
 
I just realized something...........those aint calves,they're dam sheep,thats what i get for lookin slow and postin fast early in the morning,gcreekrch you oughta be ashamed,wintering a sheep,always thought you and big dummie were sheep herders.
