Reservist accused of vandalizing cars
Officer allegedly targeted vehicles with Bush stickers

An Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel stationed at Peterson Air Force Base has surrendered to Denver police after he was allegedly tied to the vandalism of cars with pro-President Bush stickers at Denver International Airport.
Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau, 42, faces one felony count and six misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said Tuesday.
Fecteau is the director of operations for the reserves and supervises 11 full-time and 30 part-time active-duty reservists at the National Space Security Institute in Colorado Springs, said Maj. Tina Barber-Matthew, the Air Force Base Command media chief.
"We're looking into the allegations, and we will work with the local authorities. And we will make sure that due process is given its course," Barber-Matthew said.
Denver detectives are investigating at least 10 to 12 similar cases of vandalism that have occurred at DIA since December, Jackson said. The alleged vandal sprayed profanity-laced graffiti on cars directed at Bush.
The vehicles targeted often had stickers expressing support for Bush's presidential candidacy during the 2004 election, Jackson said.
One victim, William Ames, called the acts of vandalism allegedly committed by the Air Force lieutenant colonel "very strange."
"This president supports the military as well as any other president has," Ames, 54, said.
Jackson said police were able to identify a suspect after a detective concocted a sting by using an unmarked patrol car with a pro-Bush bumper sticker on the cruiser. Security cameras captured someone tagging the patrol car. A detective matched the information to Fecteau, phoned him and asked him to come in last week.
