I dont remember if it was on this board or CT that you posted pics of a New Holland Skid steer that you had just bought. Would you be so kind to tell me what model it is and how you are using it. I need to replace a tractor and would like to go with a skid steer but I am not sure as to what size I want or need. Mostly it will be used for fencing, have to get a hyd post hole digger for the corner posts and will use the bucket to drive the steels in. Other than that I was thinking it would be handy for unloading pallets of trucks and maybe moving some hay. Not real sure I want to tie into the big 4x4x8 bales that we get. Some of them weigh close to 2000lbs depending on the year and who we buy them from. Any way I would be very interested in what you have to say about your skid steer good and bad.

Thanks

I bought a New Holland LS185, its 78 horse power and also bought a tree shear & grapple, it is used mainly for clearing brush, yes I like it very well,I have it in town right now getting tracks and a dozer blade installed, amazing what you can do with one of them...........good luck
PS I think the lifting capacity of mine is 2500#'s

I think that is the same model we have here. I always have to check on it.. Ours is a bit older than haymakers mind you as we bought it used frm a snow removal service outside of Chicago (Went out of business due to lack of snow  ).. Ours might be one step down as it is rated for 2200 pounds.. Has no problem with weight usually as long as you put the counter weights on the back.. We use ours mainly for barn, road and pen cleanup with one bucket and feed wagon loading with a grapple bucket.. Been meaning to buy a couple or three more attatchments to it as it burns a lot less fuel than the bigger tractor we have... Main problems we have is the reach could be better, a little slower and in snow or rutted or mudded ground it is kind of limited.
